8 weeks bleed

Hello

Hoping for advice or just possible shared experiences? Just so worried.
I am 8 weeks 2 days pregnant. This afternoon I went to the toilet and notice blood in my underwear it was dried blood on dark underwear. There was nothing when I wiped. I phoned the community midwife services and the midwife said bleeding in early pregnancy is common and just to monitor it and if it continues to phone back tomorrow. I currently do not have any more bleeding this evening. I had a private scan a week ago and they said everything looked ok with a heartbeat.
I had a chemical pregnancy back in April so am very anxious.
Has anyone had this before?
Should I book another scan?
Will the bleeding likely return?

Thank you

I had a bleed with both of my pregnancies even more so with my second and everything was fine

Pushingdaisys · 05/01/2023 19:09

if it gets really heavy and really bad cramps I know it’s hard not to worry but I think it can be quite common in early pregnancy

Thank you, yes the midwife did ask if I had any cramps and I don't, just fingers crossed it doesn't continue or get heavier. That's reassuring to hear about your successful pregnancies thank you x

I had bleeds at 5 weeks 6 weeks and 15 weeks I am 23 week 4 days with a very active little girl

As they say OP bleeding is not normal but very common in early pregnancy - it’s impossible to say which is which immediately. I had a chemical and a MMC at 10 weeks that started with a bit of bleeding but then in this current pregnancy (32 weeks atm) I also had 3 brief episodes of bleeding including at 8 weeks and was convinced it was over again - went for a scan to confirm but baby was absolutely fine. You just never know. EPU generally won’t care or see you that early unless you’re in a lot of pain / bleeding very heavily - I had a scan privately and glad I did. I hope it’s all fine for you - no pain is good x

Hi @taxtax19 I am in exactly the same boat. 7 weeks + 2 today and I had a slight tint of pink to my discharge this morning which then went to brown but nothing since mid afternoon. I have had mild cramps all day but when I called they said the same. Don't worry unless is actual bleeding / red blood and only if the cramps are worse than mild.

I get the fear though, trying to just remember than whilst I so want to be a mum, we have no control over this and can only look after ourselves as best as possible. Hope you're okay and that it was just a one off. Take care x

@rubygiz that's wonderful to hear your little girl is doing well thank you it's reassuring

@SiberFox thank you sorry to hear about your losses but also great to hear your current pregnancy is going well. I think I will get another private scan to just be safe it's not worth me lying awake at night in worry after worrying all day x

@EmmzRB thank you, I really hope it's a one off for both of us. I think I will book a scan for reassurance.
You are right we just don't have control over these things, wishing you all the luck in your pregnancy xx

Thanks @taxtax19 just woke up and am bleeding quite heavily now 😥 trying to get through 111 because the midwife team aren't working until 8am. Take care x

Pinkglittery · 06/01/2023 06:38

Keeping my fingers crossed for both of you and just to add in, I'm 22 weeks at the moment and have had bleeding for most of it. At 14 weeks I was genuinely sitting on the loo listening to it drip and everything is fine. I've had extra scans to check but apparently my placenta is a bit low over my cervix. It might just be something like that.

I have had a couple of miscarriages so I know how scary it is. Try to rest and take your mind off it. Wishing you the best.

tax19 · 06/01/2023 09:23

@Pinkglittery thank you, yes miscarriages are so heartbreaking and it's hard feeling out of control with it all. Just need to stay positive, very happy to hear your pregnancy is going well!

Hi @EmmzRB did you manage to get through?

OP posts:
EmmzRB · 06/01/2023 10:49

Hi Ladies, yeah I ended up in A&E this morning because I woke up properly bleeding. Had bloods taken and an ultra sound. Baby is still there in sac and yolk but the heartbeat is slow. Unlikely there will be a positive outcome but have to go back in a week for a scan x

tax19 · 06/01/2023 10:53

@EmmzRB so sorry to hear this. You've done everything you can going to a&e to be seen, I'm sorry it's not a better outcome. Please be gentle with yourself, I hope you have good support around you x
