My ladies im very stressed and i will appreciate it if any of you had similar situation..had a condom accident on the 29th it broke! He was not finish,he got reed of the broken one and used a new one and finished maybe 5-10 minutes later. but since i was not exactly sure on what day of my cycle i was i feel a bit stressed. It was either day 8 or 10 and i said ok,let it be,but next day 30/12/22 after 20 hours pass i decided to take MAP ellaone and i have really intense side effects like cramping, gas, nausea, bad mood and feeling a bit low in general. Is this normal?? Can i be pregnant if he didn't nearly finish when the condom broke? Also i will like to ask if i end up being pregnant is ellaone safe for baby? Can it cause problems?? Please share your experiences!! TIA

I think as long as you didn’t ovulate hopefully the MAP will work. It’s hard to say for certain, but you could take a pregnancy test in about 10 days time to be sure.

I took the MAP twice many years ago at the very start of my relationship with dh. He was using condoms and they split, twice. Both occasions the MAP worked for me, or at least my period arrived so no pregnancy occurred. I did have some stomache ache/cramping for about 1-2 days after taking it though.

After the second MAP I started taking contraception that I could control to avoid it happening a third time. Plus we were not ready back then to have a baby. I went on the mini pill for 8 yrs and it worked during that time.

@Blue2020 hey!! Thanx for replying! I have symptoms 4 days now. Is really frustrating,i dont know what to think, stressing that if im pregnant the ellaone might harm the baby. As i said he did not finish when the condom broke. Really stressful situation.

The chances of you being pregnant are tiny.
If it was day 8-10 you are unlikely to have ovulated. The MAP works by stopping ovulation, so it can fail if that’s just happened. It’s unlikely to be 8-10 unless your cycle is very short.
So going on the timing and the fact that he hasn’t finished, I’m sure you’ll be fine. It will be the hormones, they always messed with my cycle, so expect a late period now too.

Hi All was wondering if anyone can help? So I'm due on my period on the 12th of this month partner cum in me last night ( did say not to so not very happy) I know its a low chance or my getting pregnant and obviously iv passed ovulation and I know the pill works by delaying ovulation so can I take Ella one or won't I be able to? Xx

Twoinapod · 08/02/2023 11:45

@odey9621 theres no point now as it works by stopping ovulation. But as you have passed ovulation and an egg can only be fertilised within 24 hours plus you’re only 4 days from AF I’d say you are pretty safe.

I would however be having a very serious discussion with your partner about his behaviour. That would be breaking so massive trust barriers for me.

odey9621 · 08/02/2023 11:48

I did have a read on Google and it does say its still possible I could end hi pregnant although small chance so would it be a good idea to just take it? Will the pharmacy give it to me even though I'm due on in 4days? I have and I said he shouldn't of done that! I took it back last year and it messed up my cycle so I'm pretty annoyed I'll have to take it again just in case

You are probably okay. But depending how worried you are you could try and get a copper coil fitted.

He got rid of the broken one and got a new one. Am I missing something?

Twoinapod · 08/02/2023 13:00

@User79853257976 yes you are, I’m replying to @odey9621 not to the original poster.

@odey9621 i believe the pharmacist won’t give them to you if you are past ovulation as they will not work. As I have previously said they only work to prevent ovulation, as you will have ovulated somewhere around 10 days ago and an egg can only be fertilised up to 24 hours after being released, taking it now will do absolutely nothing but can still give you side affects of taking it. Which is why a pharmacist won’t give them out.

odey9621 · 08/02/2023 14:32

Only now seeing this pharmacist said its best to take just in case I explained I have already ovulated I had it a few times in the past and iv been okay surly taking it will make sure I don't get pregnant?

Twoinapod · 08/02/2023 14:42

@odey9621 It will only work if you have not ovulated, if you have already ovulated then it will not do anything. I really don’t know how else to explain it, it’s not a magic pill, it only works before ovulation. But as you have already ovulated it is too late in your cycle for you to get pregnant. Please stop worrying about this

odey9621 · 08/02/2023 14:44

I have know people to get pregnant just before and even when on their period so it's always a possibility which is why she give it to me

Twoinapod · 08/02/2023 14:53

@odey9621 but it literally does not work if you have already ovulated. This is from the Ella one website. Yes people have got pregnant just before when they thought AF was due, but that’s because they had not ovulated when they usually would have, they ovulated just before when they thought AF was due. I really don’t know how else to explain it so honestly I give up. Have a look on the Ella one website if you still want to go round and round in circles. 😂All the best.

Several pregnancy test all negative .doctor gave me northerisorne to bring on bleed so my periods can come back but no luck now missed two periods no sigh of anything happening anyone any advice plz x

LizzeyBenett · 24/12/2023 06:34

Elaine works by delaying ovulation so if you were ovulating or had ovulated it won't work. If you were pregnant you should be fine I e heard of people taking it wrongly as they had already ovulated and getting pregnant babies were always fine .
