Some advice please

Hello! I’m after a bit of advise please, or perhaps if somebody has had something similar happen to them.
Background:
So I have irregular periods anyway, however they have always been at least 28-30+ days apart, never ever less than 4 weeks apart.
3 months ago I had an ultra scan and an internal check and doctors have confirmed that they see zero abnormalities. Blood work came back fine too.

First period after my tests came as normal, nothing out of ordinary. 10 days after my period had finished, I came on again with zero symptoms apart from a heavy bleed, this lasted 5 days. I initially thought this could be spotting but like I have stated, it was far too heavy and long.
I am roughly a week late for my period if I go by the dates of the random period, still getting the cramps and have noticed nipples are very sore, not a usual period symptom for me.
Secretly hoping it could be pregnancy but I know the period in between couldn’t be a positive thing surely.
Has this happened to anybody else? I am put off going back to the doctors as I have only just been given the all clear from them. I guess I’m just seeing if anybody has had anything else similar happen to them.

Have you taken a pregnancy test?

No because I’m too put off by the early period and how unlikely it could be. Do you think it would be worth doing so just to rule it out? Sorry I know this sounds so silly and I’ve answered my own question here, I’m just unsure 🤔

If your period is a week late then it’s worth taking a test if there’s a chance you could be pregnant (as in you had unprotected sex when fertile) 😊

Yes we haven’t been actively trying at the moment and are usually cautious, but I’m not on any contraception. I’ll see if I can get a test tomorrow after work. Even with the mid-cycle bleed?

Sometimes people have a mid cycle bleed near ovulation, I have myself just a couple of times and doesn’t mean anything necessarily. If it’s a one off I wouldn’t worry as yet. I would more be thinking as you’re a week late and not on contraception there’s a chance you could be pregnant and only one way to find out. If you’re not pregnant then it may be worth contacting your GP just to mention you’re late and had some weird mid cycle bleeding in case they think it best to check you over.

I think it'd be too early to be an implantation bleed, though it is odd! Have you been poorly or changed exercise or anything?

Definitely do take a test though.

Not been poorly and not been overly stressed. I’m 29 so too early for the change 😬
