So Happy to be Pregnant, but I Wish I Knew it Would Hurt This Much!

Hey guys,

This is my first pregnancy at age 40, and I’m so happy that getting here was easy, and planned.

But it’s so much harder than I thought it would be. The exhaustion. The nausea, and now, persistent round ligament pain.

It feels like all anyone talks about is the pain of giving birth, when they should be talking non stop about the pregnancy itself. I’m headed to week 15, and I’m more than worried about what comes next! 😂

Sorry for the rant, but everything hurts right now! 😭

What hurts? At week 15 there shouldn’t be too much pressure on your musculoskeletal system.

Perhaps hurts is the wrong word - uncomfortable might be better!

Although my stretchy uterus doesn’t feel good at all!

I had the odd twinge at that point but no ‘pain’ or anything that got me down that much, might be worth a chat with the midwife? (My back is however now killing at 26 weeks lol)

Pregnancy is different for everyone and every pregnancy is different. I was in so much pain through my 1st and 2nd trimester with constant cramps and random pains to the point I constantly thought I was having a miscarriage. Morning sickness and tiredness made me feel depressed and useless. I was
so uncomfortable at night and could never get comfortable. Now I’m 31 weeks and feeling so much better 🤞no more pains apart from when the baby gets into a funny position. My first pregnancy was completely different and apart from morning sickness and tiredness it was easy. Hope you start feeling better soon x

If it helps, I had my 1st last year and the first few months were the worst but it got better after about 4 months. The tiredness and sickness left.
Just take it easy and rest when you can. You could be low on iron but the midwife would do your bloods again soon to check on them.

Hopefully you're feeling better soon.

Yes. I am 37 with 3 fibroids and I think that contributes to the pain. Dull pressure ache or stabbing pains. The sickness got so bad I had weeks off work. My screening tests caused me so much anxiety I still can't settle. I am convinced there is something wrong all the time. Already on gaviscon for the heartburn which with my first child 9 years ago I didn't need until the final months.
I had to keep spitting for ages as excess saliva made me heave. Achy legs too.
Really trying to enjoy this pregnancy as I know its a blessing but it's been miserable so far. I'm just over 15 weeks So it seems to have started very early!!
