Similar pregnancy = same sex?

Our DC2 is due in June this year and I am currently 17 weeks pregnant. We have a 3 year old DD and so far, my pregnancy has been pretty much identical as the first time round, i.e. same food aversions (usually a caffeine addict and cannot even look at a cup of coffee!!) same cravings (fizzy chewy sweets, empire biscuits 🤤) no morning sickness, but a little nausea in the beginning, no sign of a bump yet, clear skin and healthy hair.

We have a private sex scan tomorrow evening, and I don't have a preference at all but can't wait to find out! I know that every pregnancy can be completely different for every individual, but just out of curiosity and for a bit of fun- if you have two DCs of the same sex, were your pregnancies similar? Did anyone notice any obvious differences between pregnancies of different sex babies? Smile

I have a son and currently pregnant with a daughter and both pregnancies were completely different for me. With DS, I had no sickness, no aversions, the only symptoms
I had was acne in the first trimester. I also had a huge bump and carried differently with him.

With DD, I've had morning sickness which lasted until around 16 weeks, food aversions, felt incredibly tired, and my bump is very small compared to DS, despite her measuring much bigger than him. I'm just carrying differently.

Slimjimtobe · 03/01/2023 18:17

Ah best wishes for your scan tomorrow
i had good and easy pregnancies - it different in the sense that first baby was really active and thumped and moved around. Really strong kicks etc and my next pregnancy was light flutters
little movement and quiet (both same sex)
As it happens one is more confident and decisive and one is gentler and softer - literally like the pregnancy 😂
probably just random but honestly that’s what I feel

This is exactly the same as me. Daughter had all the symptoms, son I had none.

I have one of each. With DD I had sickness, with DS I was dizzy, they were totally different.

bakewellbride · 03/01/2023 18:24

2 similar great pregnancies here and one of each.

Proudofitbabe · 03/01/2023 18:36

I found the pregnancies to be totally different for symptoms, and all the old wives shiz to be true re girls vs. boys.

With DD I had food aversions and only ever wanted sweet things, hair was greasy, body hair didn't grow, I was sick as a dog until about halfway through.

With DS the sickness was far milder and shorter-lived, I craved savory food, no aversions, my hair was nicer!

The only one that flipped "tradition" was DD was low and forward like a football, DS was higher and wider like a barrel.

Otherwise they were by the Old Wives Handbook!

Nursemumma92 · 03/01/2023 18:37

I have 1 DD and 41 weeks pregnant with DD2 and both pregnancies have been completely different! Not sure there is any correlation but exciting for you finding our 🥰

Nursemumma92 · 03/01/2023 18:37

Finding out that should say!

20viona · 03/01/2023 18:42

Yeah Iv got 2 girls, identical pregnancies, identical births and even the joy of a retained placenta both times. And they both weighed 5lb 3oz!

K37529 · 03/01/2023 19:46

I have one of each and they where very different pregnancies, girl pregnancy was great, mild nausea that stopped at 11 weeks and very few other symptoms. With boy pregnancy I had awful sickness/pain/exhaustion, horrible labour it was awful from start to finish. Pregnant again and this feels more like my girl pregnancy (thankfully) but don't know the sex yet.

Congratulations @summerbaby2023
Also interested in this, but I know everyone is different. I had HG in my last pregnancy until around 15 weeks (boy). This time I’m 8 weeks and haven’t vomited yet, I’m extremely hungry pretty permanently and don’t have the food aversions like last time where my husband couldn’t even talk about food or I would be sick 😆 I’m also very tired this time but don’t recall being tired last time, would put that down to my boisterous toddler though!

gemloving · 05/01/2023 12:02

Mine were so different and I ended up having two boys.

gemloving · 05/01/2023 12:03

Ah congratulations!!!

Cuppasoupmonster · 05/01/2023 12:07

Not for me! Same cravings, same food aversions , bad sickness for DD but this time it was HG. Early positive test both times. First pregnancy a girl and this one is a boy 💙

Workawayxx · 05/01/2023 12:11

I have a boy and a girl and pregnancies were different. I also had a mmc at 8.5 weeks and up to that point that pregnancy was identical to my DS’s so I think that was a boy. DDs pregnancy post miscarriage was really up and down with symptoms and morning sickness so I was constantly either feeling really ill or really anxious!

Workawayxx · 05/01/2023 12:12

Congratulations on your boy!

ladygindiva · 05/01/2023 14:02

I have 3 girls from 2 pregnancies ( second time was twins) and my pregnancies were very different, felt energised and looked wonderful but puked every day of my first pregnancy, slept loads and looked like a bag of shit but no sickness with the second pregnancy ( twins) . I also had a MC (14 ish weeks) between and looked and felt fabulous that pregnancy, miles better than the either of the other two. Idk what the sex was.

ladygindiva · 05/01/2023 16:41

Congratulations ! X
