Hi folks, I've been having heart flutters (or I guess palpitations is the correct term). Especially worse when I'm resting or lying down. It's not painful and I'm not feeling faint or dizzy. Has anyone else had this side effect and should I worry? I'm 25 weeks and have put on about 9kgs (I'm a very slim build person) so I feel this pregnancy (my second) is putting a lot of strain on my body. Thank you in advance!

It’s ‘normal’ in pregnancy due to extra blood volume however I would also mention it to your midwife as she may want further tests. It depends on you personally and I am not a medical professional.

Lots of reasons this could happen. Please call your maternity triage or whatever number you have that is 24/7, for advice tailored to your medical history.

I did in both pregnancies, plus an elevated heart rate of 90-115bpm resting. First time I had an ecg and 24hr heart monitor and everything was ok. 2nd time I had an echo done as well which was normal. Just seems to be something that happens during pregnancy for me, both births were fine and heart rate dropped down again after birth. I would say it's worth checking with your midwife or if you have any immediate concerns go to a&e (this is what I did 2nd time which worked out well as everything was dealt with and the echo was booked in very quickly).
