Northampton General or Coventry Hospital? Which is best as of 2022/23?

Hi, we live equa distance between each hospital and have the choice of either hospital for delivery. I'm in a real dilemma as to which to choose as have had friends have babies in both who were happy with their experiences. The journey in is about the same.. the only thing is that I am led to believe Coventry is better equipped if things go wrong with more specialist critical care units/experts..? I understand Cov would be cross counties for us which may make things slightly more tricky with antenatal care.. The reviews I have found are quite out of date for either. Can anyone offer any guidance? Many thanks 🙂

No experience of Northampton but have heard good things about Coventry generally (I could have gone there but went to my more local hospital). Coventry is a really busy hospital though and I've heard some people having some long waits, parking is also a giant pain in the bottom at times. You are right though, if needing special care Coventry has one of the most advanced units in the area.

Antenatal care as I believe would be carried out by your community midwife so whichever NHS trust you come under. If it's a different one they may not have access to your notes, so you'd need to make sure you have them available but as they're all digital now that shouldn't be a problem!

It's a tiny bit more hassle to go/move to Coventry (as default is the county hospital Northampton) but don't want to regret our decision having been given a choice.. It's nice to be given a choice and yet sometimes easier when you're not! 😬Thank you for your reply - it's much appreciated.
