Has anyone purposefully lost weight while pregnant?

As the title says! I'm 18 weeks pregnant, second pregnancy and started 2 stone heavier than at beginning of first pregnancy.

I have only put on about 4lbs so far and now Christmas is over I want to minimise weight gain and even consider losing weight by the time baby comes in June.

I am just into the obese category based on BMI which Ive never been before and don't want any birth complications due to this ideally.

Has anyone done this and if so what did you do? I was considering aiming for 1800 cals a day and as much gentle exercise as I can, walking / swimming and some weights.

Does this sound ok?

I wouldn't bother with calorie counting. Cut out refined carbs, cereal, grains sugar and eat more low Gi. Make sure you are getting plenty of healthy protein like fish and chicken and you can still eat dairy. Use fats like olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil or sesame oil, etc rather than processed oils like sunflower or vegetable oil. You'll lose weight better that way and you can make sure your diet is nutritious with things you like that are still reasonably healthy.

I know friends who have lost weight but they did get support from their midwife to make sure it was healthy for them and baby. So I’d advise asking them

I'm in a similar position whilst preg.

Im trying to use my common sense with food.. Cut out the refined sugar, plenty of veg, stop eating when full, no processed food. It's eating healthier and the weight just comes off as byproduct.

Not on purpose! Last 2 pregnancies I lost enough in the early part to weigh much the same at 9m as beforehand due to GD. So basically low sugar, higher fat, green veg and protein. Healthiest I've ever been.
