oh my goodness, I thought it was you and thought - wow, and she's posting about it now!!
hope they are both ok!

MariNativityPlay · 03/12/2004 13:52

Bells, who doesn't post much here now (can't think why with 3 under 6!) had her ds2 on the landing. When the ambulance crew arrived they had a BBC film crew with them, filming a documentary! They were on telly...
Congratulations to your dp's cousin, happy ending but I bet she is also very shocked.

THEnorthstar · 03/12/2004 13:53

Snap hana, i thought it was like "just popped out my baby and now i'm in the kitchen doing the washing up"
Well done to that brave woman hope they are both healthy and happy

connyflower · 03/12/2004 13:53

OMG! Congratulations to them all!

hana - same thing crossed my mind too; made me smile that MN would be first to know. LOL!

DelGirlsRingAreYouListening · 03/12/2004 13:54

lol Hana! Imagine having just given birth, you're onto MN within minutes rofl. I expect it could happen . A friend of mine went into labour with her 1st, went to the hosp but they wouldnt check her as they thought she'd be hours and sent her home. She got home (about 5 mins away) went to the loo and had her DD. Luckily her sis was with her. The nurse was very embarrassed when she saw her about 1/ hour later. My sis was almost born down the loo and apparently I was born in 10 mins. I dont care what they say, when i get some pain when I'm due, I shall go the hosp and stay there even if I have to chain myself to a bed.

Hope both are well btw

connyflower · 03/12/2004 13:55

thought it would get attention sorry bit misleading!

I've had texts from friends at various stages in their labour - who'd think of texting or be able to think that clearly?!

DelGirlsRingAreYouListening · 03/12/2004 13:56

I prob will I expect lol

popsycal · 03/12/2004 13:58

this happened to my mate - only on the landing!
she only lives 5 mins from the hospital too!

DingleAlltheWay · 03/12/2004 14:10

OMG! Hope they are doing fine after such a "shock!"
Reminded me of one of my friends, the ambulance turned up for her, she got as far as the front door, had another contraction hanging on to her wheelie bin , the ambulance crew ask if it was her 1st baby, when she told them it was her 5th they did an about-turn and she had her baby on the front room floor!

yuleicorn · 03/12/2004 14:14

ds2 arrived like this - upstairs in the hallway!!.. my pal nearly delivered him, but ambulance crew x2 made it, and midwife arrived just in time!!

(We stayed in the hall as I was very adamant I wasn't/couldn't move- and the carpet in the bedroom was new!!!!!)

Congratulations to dp's cousin!!

suedonim · 03/12/2004 14:16

Wow! Hope they're both okay and getting some rest. My friend had her baby on her garden path. She lived next door to the hosptial, too.

connyflower · 03/12/2004 14:23

yeah as far as i know all is fine, her dp is a surgeon and he delivered the baby so she was in good hands! amazing stories i'll have to tell her bout them, thanks

A friend of mine had her first in the space of about 10 minutes (I mean the labour) and gave birth at home. Not sure what she did when she had No. 2.

connyflower · 03/12/2004 16:04

wow what a entrance, congrats to the proud new owners of a baby girl! you will have to let us what they call her and how much she weighed x

highlander · 03/12/2004 18:07

I knew of someone who did the same and got a lovely new hall carpet from the insurance!

mvgf · 03/12/2004 20:38

I had baby no 3 at the kitchen sink, she ended up down the leg of my tights!

My midwife was rather suprised, she had seen me earlier that day.
Bubby also arrived on her 2 year old brothers birthday.
All up a very special birth.

No I wasn't washing dishes, my partner and I were trying to unblock the bloody waste disposal and he wouldn't budge till the job was done..the sink that is! Told him more than once it was time to go but oblivious dick just carried on.

When it was fixed, he went to get my Mum to look after the 2 others and when they arrived back it was all on, me leaning on the kitchen sink.

Any mums to be feeling scared...don't be, just listen to your bodies message, it will tell you what to do. We girls are programmed to do it!

KathH · 03/12/2004 21:15

had baby no 4 on bathroom floor after having contractions for 20 mins! Complete with 3 kids poking heads round bathroom door and the youngest (nearly 6) singing "mummy's got a baby hanging out her bum" and hoping round on one leg. The sound of hubby falling over repeatedly as he tried to put trousers on (he was in bed at the time) and muttering "oh my god" every 20 seconds will live with me for ever. The humuliation continued when paramedics turned up to see me in all my glory - i'd tried to have a bath when it all happened - and one of them drank in our local (won't be going in there again). I had a retained placenta and had to get taken into hospital where the midwife informed me she knew me from her days of being a bus driver. Have you ever wondered where the hidden camera is?

geekgrrl · 04/12/2004 14:36

mvgf - LMAO at image of baby born into tights ...

I delivered my dd2 myself in the bathroom - midwife was on her way and dh was watching a DVD with dd1, oblivious to my shouts of 'the head is out!!!!'. Whole baby was out when he finally dragged himself away from the Jungle Book....

pinkmagic1 · 04/12/2004 15:03

Congratulations to your cousin. I envy people like you so much, my son took 48 hours to arrive!

emMerryChristmastmg · 04/12/2004 15:54

Kind of happened to me too. Dh had gone to get my mum thinking we had hours (she lives 65 miles away) and DS1 was almost my birth partner.

As he was only 2 at the time it wasn't ideal.

I phoned 999 about an hour after Dh left and they arrived about 9 minutes before DS2 was born.

(I went on to have Ds3 at home too, but he was a planned homebirth. Say welcome to the homebirth club to your cousin, it's a very exclusive club)
