Constantly feeling baby protruding from belly

This is my second pregnancy.

I'm now 32 weeks, but since about 20 weeks, if not earlier, I've been able to see the baby's head/bottom/shoulder/elbow protruding from my belly.

The baby is really active (and I'm very grateful to have a healthy baby) and this activity is visible for a few hours per day.

I can really easily shift the baby around by prodding around their little head/ bottom. Just feels like they're pushing outwards way too much!

I didn't have this at all the first time, only feeling kicks and occasionally seeing movements towards the end.

Is this normal? I'm not generally squeamish but as it's so different from my first pregnancy I just want to know why and I'm feeling a bit mad as I'm just met with bemusement by midwives/ the scan technician. I went for a growth scan last week and everything is bang on normal.

I had this OP and, as it happened I was in hospital in antenatal care (for a bunch of other stuff) from 31-36 weeks and was monitored around the clock. The midwives all loved it - really easy to feel baby! They used to put there hands over his and they told me I was lucky to be able to see him so well. Could see hiccups and thumb sucking.

midwives just said he was right at the front and facing outwards. He was transverse until week 36 (one of his many problems) - do you know where your baby is?

Aw that's lovely! I was wondering if the baby was transverse but during the scan apparently head was down. Did your baby end up in the right position for birth?

He did turn with 36 hours to birth but it didn’t matter as I had placenta previa so had to have a section at 36 weeks!

the midwives did say it was unusual to see all the movements so well so thought I would post as you might not get that many replies with the same experience.

sounds like baby is doing all the right things if they are already head down! Very exciting and hope it all goes really well for you.

My DC1 was like this! He used to stretch out his legs so there would be a bum sticking out one side and feet sticking out the other side, making my bump triangular 🤣 Elbows would frequently poke out, as well as feet.
DC2 was totally different, she was very quiet and barely moved!

Thanks both, so good to hear I'm not imagining things.
