Sickness bug

Hi all,

Currently 26 weeks pregnant and I have started with a stomach bug over the last 24 hours which has been particularly bad in the last hour. This is my first pregnancy (aside miscarriages) and I'm really worried it's going to effect the baby. I'm trying to keep hydrated but it seems water just comes back up within 30 mins of drinking.

Any advice on how to handle this? I never suffered from morning sickness to maybe I'm being a bit dramatic! But is there anything I can take to ease the symptoms?

Best to just rest and stay hydrated. It seems severe to you but your baby won't be affected by it so long as your hydrated adequately. I'm so sorry to hear of your MCs. Especially scary because of how fragile they seem but they are still resilient

If you're very dehydrated you should go to the hospital. I caught one at about 34 weeks and was admitted, I had to have IV fluids and they gave me anti sickness injections so that I could eat. My babies movements were affected I guess because of the dehydration however the bug posed no real risk to her, she was born perfectly healthy 4 weeks later.

Thanks guys. I just can't seem to keep any fluids down because as soon as o have a drink it just comes back up. I've used the 111 app to speak to a GP so I'm expecting a call back anytime now. I'm just worried about dehydration

Your baby will be fine! I had HG and got a sickness bug at the same time. It wasn’t fun but my baby was fine (now a happy and healthy three year old). Stay hydrated!

Just saw the bit about you not being able to keep anything down. Maybe you’ll need some IV fluids. Hope you’re feeling better soon!
