Metronidazole for BV 1st Trimester?

My GP has just diagnosed me with BV and wants to treat me with metronidazole. I'm 9 weeks pregnant. I'm very anxious about taking anything at all during pregnancy and especially the first trimester. Has anyone else taken metronidazole for BV in the first trimester and it's been ok?

I didn’t have BV, but was prescribed it as part of my recurrent miscarriage clinic as prevention, so yes, I would say it’s perfectly safe! The pregnancy went smoothly.

@Anewhoo thank you, that's interesting, so the clinic gave you metronidazole to take but you didn't have BV? How many weeks were you when you took it? If you don't mind me asking x

Hi, apologies I missed this. I think I was between 8-10w, can’t remember exactly. It was part of the miscarriage prevention course of treatment I was on. Getting an infection can be dangerous for the pregnancy I was told by my specialist and they wanted to prevent any possibility of miscarriage, hence the preemptive treatment. It was the only pregnancy I took this in and the only successful one!! I will definitely be doing this again if we choose to have another.

@Anewhoo thank you so much for letting me know, that's really reassuring as ask the info I can find online is super conflicting x
