Cervical cerclage

If you have had to have a cervical cerclage or are considering it in your journey please share your story with me if you are able to ❤
I was recently rushed into emergency surgery to get this procedure done. The doctor I saw said they usually see a lot of others who have gone through radiotherapy that shrinks their cervix. They said it was lucky I had a scan to check due to my medical history because sometimes they don't catch it.

Obviously I have a lot of thoughts so I'm looking for comfort here again and I'm curious about everyone's real experience dealing with a similar situation.

What size did your cervix measure at before the cerclage ? Was it successful ? How did you come to accept if it wasn't successful? How did you feel during the procedure ? What were the steps that led you to make the choice to have it done, was it hard ? What worries did/do you have ?

I was sent home from hospital because they think it was successful, but I won't know till the next scan on the 5th of January. And even then I now need to go in every 2 weeks to check on my cervix and the new stitch which is comforting and frightening. I don't understand why they didn't check on the baby. I'm scared and trying to not worry too much, but it's really hard. Honestly I'm so lucky i got to this point. I keep thinking thoughts of what will I do if it starts opening even after if that can even happen.

Thank you for taking the time to read this

Hi. I didn't want to read and go. I'm sorry you have to go through this.
I also had my cerclage just before Christmas. I was 20 weeks +6. At the scan they measured my cervix to be .08cm but on the operating table they said it measured 2cm which they thought was better. They believe it was my previous c section that resulted in this because I was 8cm dilated and that's late into labour for c section. The scar is lower and making the cervix weaker. They managed to do the operation successfully without popping the amniotic sac!

I'm trying to stay positive that we're lucky we live in a time and place where such medical interventions are possible. It's amazing how much is preventable. I'm trying to trust the process and my body but like yourself I have many thoughts and fears. It's out of our control, all we can do is hope for a better outcome.

I'm 18weeks +3 today, just had the check up scan and its a lot better ! My cervix measured 16mm last time and now its 31mm.

That sounds very scary ! What a christmas present, right? :' ) I hope you were lucky enough to go home though and spend christmas with your family too x

Glad to hear your surgery went well though. I think you put it in a really nice way, it is so much safer now. My friend says the goal is 28 weeks for now-

I know but thoughts and fears don't help when you're dealing with things already.
How far along are you now ? Hope all is well with you, fingers crossed ~
