Still sick at 20 weeks

Does this mean I'm going to be sick all the way through? It's so exhausting.

I take cyclizine 3 times a day, sometimes more but still have 1 or 2 days a week where I can't keep anything down.

From all my reading I was thinking sickness would go at 12 weeks, then at 14, then at 16 and then at 20 but there seems to be no let up.

2 HG pregnancies first I was sick until 20 weeks, took ondansetron. Second I was sick until 38 weeks took ondansetron. Cyclizine does naff all for me. Sorry OP it can go on a while

Mine stopped around 24 weeks so don't give up hope.

I vomited all the way through until week before giving birth, but from about 17 weeks it was more related to heartburn and acid reflux. Started omeprazole in third trimester and that massively improved things and reduced frequency to just after obvious trigger foods (very spicy and/or fatty).

If you think could be similar then recommend trying gaviscon and if not sorted then maybe have a look into omeprazole?

Mine stopped at 20 weeks with my last pregnancy, hopefully yours will stop soon 🤞

I had HG too, cyclizine did nothing for me either, i was on ondansetron like @MrsH497. Was sick all the way through to 42 weeks, maybe see if the GP can add in another medication to stop the sickness. I was on 2-3 different antisickness a day so definitely can do it

Sorry to hear you're going through this.

I had severe (at one point hospitalised) morning sickness until I was 30/31 weeks in all of my pregnancies. Its a bit of a myth that it magically dissapears for all at 16 or so weeks. I know it seems never ending, but it will settle down at some stage! I found fresh strawberries helped ward off some of the nausea.

Hi OP sorry you're going through this. I was sick through to the day my eldest was born (then I was ravenous).
However, with my others things got a lot better around 24 weeks ish. Don't lose hope, Ondansetron is the only thing that worked for me it was a god send in most of my pregnancies.
I'm pig sick again this time and trying to be positive but it's a really lonely condition.

There's a really supportive Hyperemesis thread on here, you aren't alone OP xx

Thanks everyone for your replies, really appreciate them.

I think I will speak to gp about additional meds for the bad days then. Definitely can't go on another 20 weeks like this, it's just miserable and I can't get anything done.

@LemonDrizz join the hyperemises support thread. Go to your GP/Midwife and ask to try different meds. The ones you are on aren't working.

I was like you on my first pregnancy but it stopped at 24 weeks so try not to lose hope yet. I would get the meds changed regardless as you could have this all the way through your pregnancy.

Be prepared to push for them and maybe ask for a referral to a consultant if it doesn't get better!

It's miserable I really do feel sorry for you. There is a good Facebook group worldwide and UK based which is so supportive and also contact Pregnancy Sickness Support for more advice/support etc :)
