(Miscarriage)8 week scan no HB. But want me to go back in a week

I am 8 weeks 2 days pregnant. I’ve had two previous miscarriages and two children. Has anyone else been through this: went for a scan today and no hb could be found sadly. I had a scan two weeks ago and yolk sac all there but no hb yet.

today 8 weeks : Sonographer said she’s very sorry but this is a miscarriage as she should be able to see a hb at this stage. However I have to go back in a week for another scan to confirm. This is due to guildlines, as the baby had grown a certain amount from last scan. So although she’s very sure miscarriage she can’t move forward with treatment for another week. Just feels like extra torture. Has anyone else been here?

Yes I’ve been here twice. Both times had follow up scans to confirm that it was a missed/silent miscarriage. They will then discuss options with you- one is surgical and one is medical and the third option is to wait and see if it happens naturally.

Yes, only my wait between the two epu scans ended up being almost 3 weeks due to the bank holiday and then catching covid and testing positive for 10 days. I naturally started to miscarry before the second scan. I had the scan anyway, they said to still have it. Then later had surgery when it ended up incomplete.

@Ananny1234 me too, however I only had to wait 2 days. I had a private scan where the was no heartbeat, then was seen by epu 2 days later, because the baby was quite big they said it should of had a heartbeart at that stage so there was no need to wait. Can’t imagine the torture of waiting another week to be told the same😭 so sorry for your loss xx

Been there too OP, they questioned my dates which I knew were water tight and sent me back for a scan, my body passed everything naturally before then though. Sending love x

Been there OP. I was meant to have 3 scans in total because 1st one had HB, 2nd no HB and then they needed me to go back to confirm no HB. My memory of the events is a bit blurry but I think I passed everything naturally exactly one day before the scan. Otherwise, I would've opted for medication on the day of the 3rd scan. You'll be given an option of waiting to see if you pass naturally, taking medication for induction or having surgery.

Thankyou for taking time to reply guys. I know when I ovulated so my dates are pretty sure to. I guess best case now is a start to bleed on my own and atleast when I go back I won’t need further treatment. As the D and C again just feels like another thing to get through.
