As the title says really. I'm on my way for blood tests. I should be 5+2 today. I'm devastated.

I am so sorry.

Rowen32 · 28/12/2022 11:11

If it helps I went to the GP at six weeks and they said there was a chance their tests wouldn't show a positive as they were so insensitive and to go by the shop ones I'd bought instead, not sure if it's relevant here

Whatafielddayfortheheat · 28/12/2022 11:14

Ah I'm sorry OP. When did you test positive? Have you had any bleeding or other negative symptoms (I'm guessing so since you got a test at the doctors).

allgoodthings84 · 28/12/2022 11:17

I’m so sorry 😞. It’s a really horrible feeling.

Anotheanon · 28/12/2022 11:21

I am surprised they tested you at the gp. When I told mine I was pregnant they just accepted it and said their tests weren’t as sensitive as the ones we can buy.

Needtobuildabridge · 28/12/2022 11:32

My lines had been quite faint, and I'd been losing sleep worrying. He said he'd do a test to put my mind at ease...

Is there any hope? @Whatafielddayfortheheat No pain, no bleeding. It was supposed to be my routine get the ball rolling appointment.

sending you hugs xx

Fanblinkingtastic · 28/12/2022 11:35

Stay positive. I also tested negative at GP at 5 weeks - I had a faint positive home pregnancy test but negative on the GP one. They did blood test and came back positive a couple of days later. The GP tests are really NOT sensitive at all!

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 28/12/2022 11:35

5+2 seems quite early - I don't think I tested until 8 weeks, but our GP doesn't deal with pregnancies, it's all done by the midwives with the first appointment being around 11 weeks.

PumpkinDart · 28/12/2022 11:39

Sending love, wait for the bloods you're still early xx

TheOtherHotstepper · 28/12/2022 11:42

I tested negative at the doctors and at Life until I was over two months.

There are muttering about phantom pregnancy in my medical notes.

She's just sent me a list of things to watch on Netflix while I recover from a chest infection.

Hang in there

Benjispruce4 · 28/12/2022 12:00

My GP didn’t even do a test as he said home tests were more accurate than NHs. Still hope.

Needtobuildabridge · 28/12/2022 14:44

I just got home and got this after a 4 hour hold. So confused.

That test pic is positive, I think you're causing yourself unnecessary worry.

stairgates · 28/12/2022 14:49

Have you any other makes of tests? Even a couple of pound land cheap strips? At 5 weeks the positive line should be quite dark by now. I have seen the first response test give some terrible false lines over the years unfortunately🙁

elevenplusdilemma · 28/12/2022 15:07

The tests the GPs use are very insensitive. At this stage, it's impossible to say what the outcome will be as it's far too early, but your own test is definitely showing positive.

Needtobuildabridge · 28/12/2022 15:25

@stairgates these are my ones from when I tested everyday. The final one is from boxing day. People said to stop testing as line progression didn't matter. There's so much conflicting advice

It's definitely positive, mine never got any darker and I'm now 15 weeks

HimiJendrix · 28/12/2022 15:34

All of those tests look positive to me. I hope it all works out well for you.

allgoodthings84 · 28/12/2022 15:36

All you can do is wait it out and see what happens. You will have some people who had lines like this and everything was fine and then you gave people (like me) who had lines like this and had losses. You just have to wait and see what happens. I know it’s really hard but nothing else you can do

Canyousewcushions · 28/12/2022 15:37

I'd step away from the tests and try to stop thinking about it.

One of the weird things I discovered through mismatching dates is at ovulation isn't always central to the cycle- my due dates from dating scans were consistently 6 days after my calculated due date from my cycle. It did mean i was getting really faint lines on tests as progress was behind where I thought it was.

Easier said than done, but it's out of your control, try to go with a "what's for you won't go by you" focus and wait a week before testing again.

ArcticSky · 28/12/2022 15:55

I tested negative at the doctors at 5 weeks and was told I'd definitely miscarried. My son is now 6. Doctors tests aren't as sensitive as the ones we can buy - it's a horrible wait. Really hope things work out for you x

Benjispruce4 · 28/12/2022 16:27

It’s positive. Your Gp should still start the process with midwife. My lines were the same- this was 23 years ago! I only did 2.

Snowflakes2 · 28/12/2022 17:59

I had faint home positives and a negative doctors test. Doctor said to trust my home ones and I'm currently 14 weeks.

girlss4 · 28/12/2022 18:16

This happened to me with DC2, negative tests at the Drs but positive at home. In the end they did bloods and sent me to the EPU - we saw the sac and went back a week later to check the heart had started which it had. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome for you.
