As the title says really. I'm on my way for blood tests. I should be 5+2 today. I'm devastated.

Step away from the tests. You are literally peeing away cash and it won’t tell you anything you don’t already know. You’ve done what? At least 7 tests and 6 of them are positive. You are only causing yourself more stress and worry.
You are pregnant. Taking more tests will not alter the outcome of that.

Needtobuildabridge · 28/12/2022 18:20

Ladies, thank you so much. I'm still so scared, but I feel that I have a glimmer of hope.

Any more happy endings, keep them coming! I'm so grateful for all of the input.

My husband is so scared too, he won't entertain the idea that it's going to be okay. I know that he's trying to protect us both. It's so hard.

I remember going to the doctors and it didn't show on theirs either! I was around 5 weeks, she's 3 now!

MintyPrincess · 28/12/2022 18:21

Stop testing x

Cuppasoupmonster · 28/12/2022 18:22

I mean it’s clearly positive but if I’m being honest I would expect a stronger line at 5+2 (so something like 21dpo?). Sorry you’re in this state of not knowing, hopefully a clear answer will be along soon.

BusMum79 · 28/12/2022 18:24

This happened to me with DS1. Faint line at home
so I bought a digital, which came up as pregnant. Made appt to see GP to confirm as that’s what I was advised to do…. Did a test in the surgery and it was negative. She said their tests were pretty rudimentary, so the negative wasn’t a guarantee of anything being wrong. I had blood tests, I was pregnant- he’s now 9 years old.

Swearwolf · 28/12/2022 18:24

This is going to sound silly but are you weeing onto the stick directly? With my last baby I was only getting super faint lines too, until I switched to weeing in a cup and dunking the stick instead. I think my aim was off!

iknowhimsowell · 28/12/2022 18:25

It's hard to tell. I lost a baby around 7 weeks but I knew from a week or so earlier as my lines started to get fainter and never really progressed to properly strong lines. If you are sure on your dates the line looks faint, but difficult as it is it's just a waiting game at this early stage.

Needtobuildabridge · 28/12/2022 18:46

@Cuppasoupmonster Yes and no. I tested with OPKs and BBT, my app has me ovulating 3 weeks ago today. However my cycles are irregular and the NHS calculator has me ovulating 3 days later.

@Swearwolf the one at the Dr was a dip in a cup. The one that came up positive was directly onto the stick. My previous tests were also dipped into a cup, so a mixture I guess.

Why did you go to the gp so early?

Needtobuildabridge · 28/12/2022 19:12

@Garman The NHS website says to.

My DM went to the gp after 3 missed periods ( in 60s) but I get we want to know immediately now. Your tests are positive op. Try to relax and enjoy. Your first scan won’t be until 8/9 weeks anyway.

Benjispruce4 · 28/12/2022 19:19

I’ve just remembered I did get a negative from the gp with my first baby but he said ignore it, if home tests are positive as they’re more accurate.

Aquasulis · 28/12/2022 19:21

You are pregnant but my eyesight

Garman · 28/12/2022 19:09

Why did you go to the gp so early?

It's a bit unclear, most GPs don't see you (in my experience) and just book first midwife appt about 8 weeks but seems like some GPS do book in an appointment, but not sure why to be honest.

LittleLottle · 28/12/2022 20:04

Your tests are positive but not as dark as you'd expect for 5+2, I think maybe your dates might be off and your HCG is still quite low (first response pick up from 6) so hopefully its just a timing problem.

Icouldabeenalawyer · 28/12/2022 20:15

So sorry. I don't want to give false hope...but, this happened to me. I went to walk in with a nasty uti, told them I was approx 5wks pg, took a test & said, so sorry negative. I sobbed. My dc is 6 now. I'm hoping for you 💐

NalaNana · 28/12/2022 20:20

Could be a timing problem - if you ovulated 3 weeks ago (so you're 21 DPO) but didn't implant until 12 DPO, your tests won't be as dark as someone who implanted at 6 DPO.

Test progression can be a controversial topic on here as the job of (most!) tests is to tell you whether you're pregnant or not, not how far gone. Saying that, I've read an awful lot of these types of thread (and made one or two!) and monitored test progression myself, there does seem to be a strong correlation between darkening tests and pregnancies that are progressing.

I'd be cautiously optimistic as you are pregnant right now, but also prepare if it doesn't go your way.

Sorry you're going through it btw, it's a total headfuck. Hopefully you're GP will do another test 48 hours after the first because one test will only tell you how much HCG is in your system, two tests will tell you if it's doubling or not x

golfwidow88 · 28/12/2022 20:21

My tests were darker with second morning wee than first

ChristmasAtHogwarts · 28/12/2022 20:23

Did you get a blood test OP?

somethingslastforever · 28/12/2022 20:23

I done one test at home, it said I was pregnant. I rang the GP about two weeks later and they done my maternity referral. Seen a midwife at 8 weeks for my booking appointment and bloods. Think you're worrying unnecessarily, stay positive Flowers

StarsOnDress · 28/12/2022 20:29

This happened to me, had 3 positive home tests, went to the GP as was horrified (unplanned pregnancy) did test there with GP and was negative.

Continued to test positive with home tests, I can confirm I was definitely pregnant 😂 GP later admitted their tests aren't as strong.

Needtobuildabridge · 28/12/2022 20:38

@ChristmasAtHogwarts Yes, bloods done today. Now we wait...again! The uncertainty is really affecting me.

Thank youal for the stories, each one is making me smile. I've done a Freedom test and got a faint positive - evening urine won't be as good, I know. All this worry. Thank you all so much for the hand holds. I'm more grateful than I can say.

In the olden days when home pregnancy tests were about £10 a hit I went to my GP with nausea, sore boobs, frequent peeing etc. I would have been about 6 weeks. The test was negative. I was still having the same symptoms 4 weeks later so went back to GP who sent bloods and yes, I was pregnant. He’s 26 now. I also had two miscarriages (18 years ago) and tested + for a couple of weeks afterwards.

🤞 for you.

PutOnAHappyFace · 28/12/2022 20:47

When did you get your first positive OP?
