Just a light hearted thread, as I know the baby will come when ready 🤗.

I never got this far with my DS as I was induced!

How did you feel the days/hours leading up to labour? Did you do any old wives tales? Loads of walking? Loads of sex? Loads of chilli? 😬

I’ve had tons of discharge (no blood in it just massive amounts and clear), a lot of period type camps (but I’ve had these for weeks and weeks)…..

Hi due date twin!

I'm on my way into town for lunch with a colleague and then have a midwife and doctor's checkup this afternoon.

Not sure whether to go for a sweep or not if they offer one, maybe it's a bit early?

With my son I was induced at 39+5 for reduced movements but my body had shown no signs of going into labour naturally and it didn't work and I ended up having a C-section, so keen to get things going on their own this time if possible.

@babyjellyfish eeeek how exciting!!

I have midwife tomorrow and will definitely be taking the sweep if offered, I’ve read it will only work if baby is ready so I think what’s the harm! Good luck with your appointment! Keep me posted 😊

i’m about to go for a walk and then off for a curry later, luckily they’re my favourite meal!

38+2 here and hoping things get moving soon! Desperate not to be induced so doing everything anyone says helped them 😂😂😂 currently sipping raspberry leaf tea and have been harvesting colostrum daily as well as being on the ball. I'm having tons of braxton hicks etc and tightenings and soooo much pressure. Due to go for a scan tomorrow due to reduced movements so I guess they'll be able to see if he's engaged but the midwife I saw yesterday seemed to think he is!

Walking and sex too although cba with sex if I'm honest and I walk a tiny amount and feel like he's going to fall out 🙈😂

38+5 today and just had the balloon put in for a balloon induction. Back tomorrow to get it removed and kick everything off!

I'm so uncomfortable, and the pains/cramps have been unreal.

Nursemumma92 · 27/12/2022 13:14

40+1 today and had 2 sweeps already, one at 38 and one at 39 with no luck. Having 40 week appointment tomorrow at 40+2 and will have another sweep, fingers crossed this one will work! My DD was born at 40+5 so hoping I don't go past that!
Tried all the wives tales, feeling a bit frustrated now although I know babies come when they are ready 😅🤦‍♀️

I'm also due soon although I'm so tired after a busy Christmas period and hosting that I'm actually hoping that I will last a few more days. Not going down the sweep or induction route just yet but am feeling lots of aches and pains so always symptom spotting! Glad I made it past Christmas!

MamaFirst · 27/12/2022 14:10

Hey ladies! 39 weeks for me, I have a sweep booked tomorrow with induction planned around 40 weeks if no luck. I'm desperate for it to work! I've been getting constant tighenings every 20 minutes or so for days on end, presumably just braxton hicks. Soo annoying and uncomfortable with loads of pressure too. I don't think anything is happening, but we shall see tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you all, keep us posted!

babyjellyfish · 27/12/2022 14:23

I had absolutely no signs of labour before I was induced last time.

I'm going to try for a VBAC this time so I'm really hoping for spontaneous labour, although they will do a balloon induction and syntocinon if I get to 41 weeks and nothing has happened. Or I could just go straight for another C-section if my body isn't looking favourable to an induction. So really it could go any way!

I think I'd like to experience it all kicking off though! Is that weird?

I've been drinking raspberry leaf tea and trying to walk more, plus I've been to the osteopath and had some acupuncture. My husband hasn't wanted to have sex for months, he has a bit of a mental block about it when I'm heavily pregnant, and this time we have a toddler as well so we're both knackered. Last time I ate dates religiously but my cervix was still completely closed at 39+5 and never dilated more than 6cm, so I decided to give that a miss this time. I don't like them anyway!

MamaFirst · 27/12/2022 15:04

@babyjellyfish no I get that, I feel the same. My first I had a very long first stage and my waters eventually broke after about 4 days of random contractions. I was fully induced for my others. I don't really even know what a normal pregnancy into labour progression looks like as I've never really experienced this. Did you have sweeps before your induction?

Yellowflower123 · 27/12/2022 15:34

Heyyyy. I'm 38 weeks today too... and I've become very impatient.

Don't know if anyone can relate but I was all fine yesterday evening and then all of a sudden I just became really moody! I felt frustrated, annoyed, cried (lol) but at nothing in particular... what's that all about?!?! Haha

Yes trying the Raspberry tea, dates and lots of walking. But I don't even have all the pressure down there that people talk about 🙈

Fingers crossed its soon for all of us!

Kate120 · 27/12/2022 17:18

Hey OP, I am only 36 weeks today with DC2 but I can already relate! I’m counting down the days…

My first baby was born at 38+1. I woke up in the morning and my waters went, then contractions started a couple of hours later. She was born 3am the following morning. Like you I had been having cramping feelings and lots of discharge for at least a couple of weeks before (can’t remember exactly how long).

The day before I went into labour I did the following:

-lots of walking (well actually shopping, but covered at least a couple of miles)
-went out for curry in the evening
-sex (it has DH’s birthday! 😂)

So that’s what I would recommend! Good luck x
