Anyone's gut feeling ever right?

Currently coming on 34 weeks pregnant. I am convinced, based on how I'm feeling at the moment, that baby will be early. Not that I want baby to be early - but I just have a funny feeling!
I don't remember feeling like this with my first, but then again perhaps I'm just feeling more exhausted and achey because I'm looking after a toddler this time around.

Anybody else felt the same? Where they were convinced baby would come early and they actually did?

My gut feeling was wrong, I really thought I was further along in my last pregnancy and was convinced I'd give birth weeks before I did, my advice to you is to not focus too much on this, it made my pregnancy feel soo much longer because I was expecting him to come earlier

Yes. Baby came at 32 weeks. But wasn't just gut instinct, also had lots of obvious symptoms and many others I recognised with hindsight

Cas112 · 26/12/2022 20:49

My gut was early, I was wrong

Notonyournellykelly · 26/12/2022 20:49

My gut instinct was wrong with both DCs! Thought my first would come early. She was two weeks overdue and had to be induced. Dc2 was ELCS. I thought I'd go into labour before I was due my CS, in which case, I'd have been happy to carry on with the birth. But no, wrong again!

Another friend had plans to sort everything out a few weeks before the birth of her babies and they both came quite early.

So anecdata based on the two of us says not to trust gut instinct too much

I'm currently 37+1 and booked for csection 2 weeks today. I'm convinced I won't make it to csection date. This is my 3rd and I don't remember this feeling with previous 2. I'll let you know outcome!

One night when I was 36 weeks pregnant, my dad looked at my bump and said 'that child's coming early'. About 8 hours later my waters broke, and the baby was born 2 days later almost 4 weeks before her due date. I did have a feeling she would come early but my dad really nailed it!

With my next child, I expected her to come early too but she didn't. My gut instinct was that she was a boy, too, and that was also wrong. I would have bet my house on it!

HayleyBean · 26/12/2022 21:01

Yep my gut feeling told me that my first would be early and that he was a boy. I finished work on the Friday and had him on the Sunday morning after a very quick labour at 37+5 and he was indeed a boy. He's 29 days old and snuggled up on my chest right now 🥰

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 26/12/2022 21:14

My gut told me our 2nd bsby would be here before Christmas. He was due on the 1st of Jan, but was born on the 22nd of Dec, so not very early.

I'd been so sure I'd gone out and bought Christmas baby clothing and had wrapped up presents from Santa for him too to keep the presence up gi our older son!

CurlyNo2 · 26/12/2022 21:23

With my 2nd baby (he’s 5 weeks old) my gut feeling was baby was going to come early.

I was booked in for a c-section at 40 weeks. My waters broke at 39+1 and I delivered my baby that day.

crackersforcheese · 26/12/2022 21:25

My gut told me early and I went into labour at 37 weeks +2 days xx

redpinkyellow · 26/12/2022 21:27

Gut said early. I even gave up work 4 weeks before due date. Baby born 40+9 😂

I did get the sex right, everyone said I was having a boy but I had a niggle it would be a girl and it was.

Gut feeling baby no 2 would be a boy and even bought blue baby grows and he was. I only packed white & blue baby grows to bring to the hospital!

ToddleToddleToddle · 26/12/2022 21:30

I was really sure I was going to be early, or at least on time.

10 days late. They were getting ready to induce me!

Oliack1417 · 26/12/2022 21:31

I was convinced my 2nd would be early, I was wrong. 2 weeks overdue in fact!

OrangeBanana22 · 26/12/2022 21:37

Had a gut feeling the whole pregnancy on that my baby would be early and then later found out around 30 weeks that because of medical reasons I’ll be induced 2 weeks early in about a week and a half! But also I feel like I might go into labour naturally before that 🤔

Also me and my partner both thought we were having a girl and then we’re proven right at our scans 🙈

AnnieApple123 · 27/12/2022 08:18

I was always sure I’d be significantly late and have to make decisions about induction.

I was 10 days early.

FebMama · 27/12/2022 11:16

Thank you all! A few mixed responses.

I am going in for an elective c section but still waiting on a date. I have a feeling I won't make my section date and I'll go into Labour naturally beforehand. Let's wait and see 😬 although would love it for baby to hang on in there until the date we are given!

Nope, I was certain I would go over into Feb last year (due 29th jan), he made a surprise appearance on the 16th jan

biscuitcat · 27/12/2022 12:07

Not here! I was convinced I'd go two weeks over - went into labour at 39+4. I was right that he was a boy though!

Pregnant again now and having an ELCS - I have a dreadful feeling I'll go into labour before my date, but I'm hoping that's just reflective of how dreadful my labour was and fear of recreating it, rather than anything else.
