  • wine
  • baileys
  • smoked salmon
  • goats cheese
  • pate

I don’t even usually want pate, I think it’s because I can’t have it! Anyway 5 more months and I’ll have all the above.

Merry Christmas all x

I thought that you could have goats cheese? I ate it when I was pregnant!

Sallyh87 · 25/12/2022 16:29

@Pitstop1986 appearently you can. Thanks! Goats cheese it is.

Can you also have wine? 😂

Brie, patè and salami!

mummabear2023 · 25/12/2022 16:38

I just want a full cheese and meats board with crackers, I settled for crackers with smoked cheese last night and it's just not cutting it

FLA92 · 25/12/2022 16:56

Wine!!!!!!!!!

and smoked salmon actually!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 25/12/2022 17:33

Yes! Mackerel pate.

I thought you could eat smoked salmon too?

Sallyh87 · 25/12/2022 18:03

@blebbleb , I thought so too but the NHS removed from ‘allowed’ foods due to a listeria outbreak. Though I did it eat it a few times in early pregnancy before I found that one out!

MogTheForgetableCat · 25/12/2022 18:05

You can have all of those apart from too much pate. Wine and Bailey's in moderation obviously.

The listeria evidence for anything in particular isn't good, the other traced outbreak was due to lettuce and no one is saying avoid salad.

Up to you though!

MogTheForgetableCat · 25/12/2022 18:06

I think Emily Oster is very helpful about food and drink risks (more so than NHS who are very paternalistic).

elm26 · 25/12/2022 18:13

Brie and pate. My fave things about Christmas.

I would say Baileys but I've allowed myself a thimble full with ice.

Rosesandteacups · 25/12/2022 18:17

Anything containing sugar or white carbs. Got gestational diabetes this pregnancy and it’s the worst. Hopefully only 8 weeks to go

PointyMcguire · 25/12/2022 18:23

Brie, port, smoked salmon, mulled wine and baileys for me. Ah well, only 2 more weeks to go!

Perexi · 25/12/2022 18:30

Pate, Red wine and the good cheeses!

PurBal · 25/12/2022 18:31

I’ve eaten my weight in smoked salmon today, I ate it during my last pregnancy, I thought it was fine...? Also had a tiny bit of brie, I’d eat more TBH but very full. And (controversially for MN) a small glass of champagne.

lemonybiscuits · 25/12/2022 18:38

Surely you can have mackerel pate? The ingredients are smoked mackerel fillets, cream cheese and lemon juice.

lemonybiscuits · 25/12/2022 18:39

Also I've had a bit of regular pate. As long as you don't eat a lot or eat it regularly it's fine.

wishing3 · 25/12/2022 18:40

Oh god, wiiiineee. All the wine.

Anewhoo · 25/12/2022 18:41

You can definitely have mackerel pate!! Just blitz a can of mackerel, some cream cheese, squeeze of lemon, and some pepper. I pretty much lived on this when pregnant! Also baked brie, and wedges of brie wrapped in Parma ham and baked. I also ate quite a bit of smoked salmon, maybe things have changed since last year. I also had Stilton and a tiny glass of port - that was my Christmas treat!

Sallyh87 · 25/12/2022 19:02

@lemonybiscuits , the advice is no pate of any kind, including vegetable. Though to be fair, I have no idea why that would be!

lemonybiscuits · 25/12/2022 19:03

@Sallyh87 that seems like weird advice! The risk with meat pate is too much vitamin A but cannot see what the risk would be with non meat pate!

I think it’s a listeria risk, but only applies to shop bought. If you make it fresh with no ‘banned’ ingredients it’s fine!

Sallyh87 · 25/12/2022 19:32

@Anewhoo and @lemonybiscuits thank you. I shall get the ingredients in 😀
