Amoxicillin during first trimester

Can anyone advise if it is safe to take amoxicillin during early pregnancy? Has anyone experience of this?

I have a suspected throat infection but I am unsure if I should take the antibiotic. The doctor who prescribed it was an out of hours doctor with very poor English so I am not sure if they understood how early on in my pregnancy I am.

Yes it's safe, BUT... may well give you horrendous thrush!! I took it for an infected wisdom tooth during my first pregnancy and although it cleared the infection, it gave me really bad thrush.

@Ayeaken ah no I have had two thrush infections already! I definitely don't want a third one!!

I took 4 courses of amoxicillin during pregnancy. Infected tooth and skin infections. All good, baby born beginning of December. Also didn't get thrush with it
