Does mother’s urine test show infection in baby?

Hello,

I posted yesterday about excess fluid being picked up in a private scan. 😭 I’m 26 weeks.

The hospital have raised a scan card (non urgent) for me and said that if they confirm the excess fluid, they’ll run tests for infections which can cause excess fluid.

Ive recently had my urine sample taken which came back clear - would this show if the baby was infected, or only me?!

For anyone who’s been in the same position or knows, if tests showed that there was an infection, is that a past infection? Scans have otherwise looked ok. 🙏🏽

Sorry for all the questions- absolutely terrified.

Thanks!

Your urine sample would only show infection in your urine-which might have come from your kidneys, bladder or urethra, but wouldn't show anything from the baby.
Try not to worry too much, scans aren't always accurate, hope they can reassure you and everything's fine with the baby.
