The waiting game

I tested a while back and got positives. I should be 6 week now.

On Monday after sex I spotted. Not much but I seen it. Was quite calm.
The next morning (Tuesday) I woke up bleeding. Not alone but scarlet. Not clots.
Between then and now I've had brown discharge.

After the bleed on Tuesday I rang the docs (had a few symptoms that could have suggested ectopic but could be too much reason). Gp put me onto 111. At 10am they said they'd have someone call within 2 hours. At 18:00 they rang and said I was still on the list but they were busy (fair enough lots of poorly kids at the minute) and to keep my phone on loud. I went to sleep at 1am. They rang at 4:48am and left a voicemail saying I hadn't answered so we're closing my call. Rang the epu and they said to get referred by my gp. Rang my gp at 17:01 and they said ring 111 as they were now closed. Had some cramps but hasn't stopped me doing anything and also have cystitis whixh wont be helping that. Decided to stop hassling people and to sit it out, I'm not overly upset it's the not knowing (as in if I have miscarried I'd like to have a couple of drinks over Xmas and make the most of it as much as I can)

So now I'm in limbo. Done a test Wednesday night and it was positive. Just done a clear blue and it's saying 2-3 weeks but I should be 3+ at 6 weeks? So will this be my hcg dropping back?

The weeks indicators aren't reliable so I wouldn't worry to much about that, I would get on to them again and try get an appointment, sorry your going through this awful timing just before Christmas 😔

Lottie917 · 23/12/2022 16:01

Sorry you're going through it OP. It really is a horrible waiting game when it's this early in pregnancy. If you suspect miscarriage or ectopic, if I was in this situation I would try 111 again and try to get in at the EPU.

Alternatively, if you have no luck with that, there is the option to book a private scan if this is financially viable for you. They should be able to tell you if they suspect it's ectopic at the very least which can get serious quite quickly, so don't sit on that. Just bare in mind though that at this early stage they may not be able to tell you for sure whether you've miscarried and/or see baby and a heartbeat, etc. I had an early scan at 6 weeks and what they could see / tell me was very minimal but they were able to confirm baby was in the right place. I went back at 8 weeks for rescan which gave me more info / reassurance.

I wouldn't go by what the pregnancy tests say weeks wise, they're not entirely accurate and the results really do depend on all sorts of variable things.

Hope that you get it sorted x

Hi Lottie.

Thanks for the reply 😊

Private is viable but I wouldn't know where to start or if there is anywhere near me, live semi rural. Also they can't change anything can they, the outcome wouldn't change and would probably just be a bit of faf this time of year as they'll be shut a couple of days🤦🏼‍♀️

I did suspect the tests may not be accurate which I think it what i was asking really.

Nothing is ever straight forward is it x

@ttcttc no unfortunately it won't change the outcome. As you say the not knowing is the hardest bit.

I used Window to the Womb if that's any help (I'm in the UK). They have clinics all over the country if you are also UK based. It is probably unlikely you will get an appointment this side of Xmas but you never know. From memory you can look at their calendar availability online without signing up or getting to far into the booking process X

ttcttc · 23/12/2022 16:46

I've just looked, the nearest clinic is 2+ hours away. Its like royston vasey around here lol
