Cylogest intense cramps

Hi,

I was prescribed cyclogest on Monday (the 19th) and so have now taken 4 doses. I have to insert it into my v-jay to help support my pregnancy. My obgyn is on vacation and my doctor told me "it's normal" but I wanted to ask..

Has anyone else had it where they have cramps so bad that they can't stand. They feel like very very intense menstrual cramps and they come on pretty fast and last about 20-30 minutes then ease off. I've never felt anything like this, they literally have me curled in a ball wanting to cry!

Previously I had 1 a day today I had 2..

Has anyone else had this? How did you cope? Does it get better??? Help :(

I’ve taken a lot of cyclogest in my time and I’ve never experienced any cramping whatsoever on it and I was taking it twice a day. Your cramping sounds very extreme.

Does your OB have anyone covering for them that you could speak to? From your language I’m assuming you’re American? Do you have an early pregnancy unit at your maternity hospital that you could ask?

Cramping is definitely normal on cyclogest. Mine was never that bad though but I did have breathtakingly painful round ligament pain for a good few months. Maybe google and see if it is that?

I just grit my teeth through it tbh. I think you normally stop taking it around 12 weeks pregnant but if it’s round ligament it may go on after that.

you could try putting them in, ahem, the back entrance and seeing if you still get the same cramps.

good luck op.

Thank you for responding. Yea im not in the UK but I'm British. I ended up going to the ER. They said cyclogest isn't the problem but I'm too early into the pregnancy for them to figure out if it's ectopic or something else is going on. Been sent home and told to go back on Sunday

I’m glad you got some help and I’m sorry you’re still waiting for answers. Hopefully you’ll know more on Sunday.
