I'm a first time mom and quite young and I feel like the midwife's and hospital aren't taking me seriously as I just don't have a clue. So today this morning I started bleeding and having tightening was quite painful had this around 8am and had it all day. I haven't had bh so it could be this. I rang hospital and explained my situation.

Told me to come in and they put me on the monitors but the pains wasn't getting detected on the monitors. Baby's heart rate was going up to 180 when the pains were happening which is really high for her as hers is usually between 130-140. They checked my cervix and it's not dilated but I'm so confused on why the monitors wasn't picking up the BH/contractions.

I'm clueless and just feel like they are not taking me seriously, it's making me not want to go to the hospital as I just feel like I get told to go home it's nothing but I'm still currently having these pains? Can someone please offer some advice please as I feel really stupid now for even going to the hospital 🤦🏻‍♀️

How many weeks are you, OP? I'm sorry the hospital aren't being very reassuring.
When you say you were bleeding, do you mean like a period, or just a few spots or mucus?

Have you got any signs of a water infection? That can sometimes cause the womb to be a bit irritable.

Also - sometimes, contractions do not show up very well on a monitor. It depends a lot on where the belt is placed, and how tight it is.

If you've been checked and your cervix is not dilating, it is also possible that the baby's head is engaging.

No advise but you did the right thing so don't feel bad, you should always get checked out if you think something's not right, especially when there's bleeding involved, hope everything goes well 💞

I'm almost 34 weeks, I did have mucus bleeding about 2 weeks ago and then they just sent me home again🤦🏻‍♀️ today it was more like a period bleed but then calmed down to spotting but never had these pains before. They've booked me in for a scan on the 3rd so hopefully I'll see if everything is ok then. I have no signs of water infection and hopefully they will know if I do and get in touch as they took a urine sample and a swab. Thanks for your reply

@K37529 thanks for your reply, I know I shouldn't feel stupid as bleeding can be serious if you don't get it checked and would never take the risk. I just feel stupid as it's like they was making out I'm lying about the pain which I definitely am not hopefully they will start taking me seriously or I might look into changing hospitals because tbh this whole pregnancy they've been absolutely shit. Thanks for replying ❤️

Hi @ttc2603 sorry to hear the hospital are not being helpful.
Try calling 111 and explain what is happening, i had a situation where i was in early stages of pregnancy and i had a really heavy bleed, they told me which hospital to go to and called me back to see if i was still in a bad way.
Hope they will be able to help you x

Hi OP, sorry to hear about this. I am currently 35 weeks and I feel pretty let down by hospital too. I think they are just way too busy at the moment and it’s making me really nervous about the birth. This is my second baby but things seemed more under control last time round. I went in for reduced movements last week and had to wait 3 hours to be put on a monitor… luckily everything was fine but it’s scary how short staffed they are.

if you are still having pain and/or bleeding in the morning, call them again and asked to be checked. I have heard stories of people having contractions that are somehow not picked up by the monitors but I’m not sure how common that is. Have they given any explanation for the bleeding?

you could also maybe try pushing for an earlier scan? The 3rd is quite far away if you’re looking for some reassurance. Otherwise I would maybe get a private scan if that’s an option for you. I had a bleed next to placenta called an ECH in my last pregancy that caused several bleeds (last one was at around 20 weeks though). It wasn’t serious or threatening to the baby. I wonder if you could have something similar, it would show on a scan.

But the OP has already been to hospital and been checked over. They then discharged her. I have no idea what 111 would be able to do in this situation.

Thankyou for the advice the bleeding and pain has stopped now but if it happens again I'll try 111 and see what they suggest

I know I've been to the hospital 2 times the last 2 weeks with bleeding and the wait was so long as they have staff shortages which I know isn't there fault. Hopefully once everything calms down we will get a bit more support.

I did have a scan for the 9th of January but they brought it forward they was gonna try get me booked in for a scan today but the closest one is the 3rd sadly so I'm just gonna have to wait, on the positive side baby's moving fine and the bleeding and pain is all gone today so hopefully that's a good sign and hopefully it was just nothing maybe my cervix just got irritated or something.

I'll definitely have them check that but when the doctor come in to examine my cervix she did say she don't think it's my placenta as mine is really high but I'll ask them to double check when I have the scan. Thankyou for advice and congrats on your pregnancy hopefully you'll get some more support as it's so stressful towards the end. Wishing you good luck not long left now! X

Did you have extra scans when they seen this on the scan? I have been having extra scans due to low bmi and so far everything has looked perfect with baby and placenta so I'm not too sure if it could be that?
