Pregnant after 3 miscarriages

Just that really. Wondering if anyone is in the same position as me?

We have a DD who is 2 and since have had 3 back to back early losses. Last one was tested and showed to have Trisomy 16 so that's made me even more anxious. Although I think I understand T16 to be the most common of the chromosomes abnormalities.

Should be such a lovely christmas gift to get a BFP but I just can't help but feel extra anxious. Of anyone is in similar situation and would like to chat then I would love that.

Im exactly the same as you! Three back to back miscarriages last one being a missed miscarriage at 12 week scan. Im now 10 weeks pregnant being looked after by the EPU, having scans every two weeks, scan at 7 weeks perfect and scan at 9 weeks perfect too, I have another scan next week and Im on aspirin and progesterone. Im still an anxious mess and scared it will all go wrong but praying this is my rainbow baby 💕How far along are you? Have you contacted anyone yet ? Sending positive vibes your way 🤞🏼

Ah congratulations. So pleased it's all going well for you, that's really positive regarding your two perfect scans. Did you find a cause for any of your miscarriages?

I think i'm only like 4 weeks 5 days but will calk my doctors in the morning to get referred to the EPU.

Do you have any children or is this your first? x

Thank you so much!

No they didnt, I had all the tests and everything came back normal, testing on the fetus came back normal too so no answers at all. I believe aspirin and progesterone have been prescribed as a precaution. Yes I also have a 2 year old DD who was born absolutely perfect and had a totally uncomplicated pregnancy with her, the only difference is I was still breastfeeding her during my pregnancies I miscarried, after the third miscarriage I weaned.

Aw bless you its such a scary time isnt it, I pretty much rang my EPU straight away and managed to self refer hopefully you might be able to do that? X

Hi @Stargazer89 congratulations, I am also in the same position. I am now pregnant after 3 back to back miscarriages and feel very anxious. I am currently 8+3 I have had a scan through my EPU and everything looked good but still very worried. I've booked a private scan for next week Friday and then I have my 12 week scan in the 2nd week of Jan so hopefully all goes well. I have only just found out last week I was pregnant, I'm glad I've had less time to worry. The first few weeks can really seem like a lifetime!

I would definitely self refer to EPU they'll definitely see you considering your history and you can get a date in for an early scan. Xxx

Hi all, I have also had 3 reocurring miscarriages, although I haven't had any positive pregnancies. I had one many years ago. I then fell pregnant this September and had a chemical pregnancy at 5 weeks. 2 weeks after, I fell pregnant again. I went for scans etc and at what should have been 9 weeks, I was told the baby had stopped growing just over 7 weeks and there was no heartbeat. I have been referred to Tommys at Queen Elizabeth hospital. The consultant said that as they are early miscarriages, it could just be "bad luck." They are doing bloods so I should know what they say this week. From the bloods the gp did before and all the scans that I had when pregnant and them checking my ovaries etc, everyone said that everything looks fine. The consultant did say that once we know the results, I should carry on trying. They will only prescribe me with something, if I have any bleeding. He said that they wouldn't give progesterone until I've had 4 miscarriages and wouldn't advise that I went private to get it. I guess I want to ask someone what do I do? I really hoped to be prescribed some form of medication to support the pregnancy this time.

Hi @Aks91 sorry to hear that you are also going through the same. I self referred to the EPU this time and they offered me progesterone which i'm taking but I don't know if it's going to help or not. I have been feeling very tired with sore boobs but I keep thinking that's just the progesterone not pregnancy symptoms
I can't get excited at all this time because I'm just waiting for bad news. Do you know why they said 4 miscarriages before a progesterone?

@Stargazer89 So sorry to hear that you have been through the same thing. I totally understand how you must be feeling. My fingers are crossed for you. The clinic have done a study and so they advise after 4 miscarriages. I also may not have been given the full information, so I can't say for sure. I didn't have any early bleeding, so maybe that's why they don't recommend. I just don't want to go through it again without trying medication this time.

Stargazer89 · 22/02/2023 21:04

@Cindy974 and @Anon2021x I was wondering how you are both getting on?

Im 14 weeks now, 12 week scan was fine but i can't help but think something is wrong due to previous miscarriages especially as last one came back T16. I was offered a cvs but consultant advised against it because risk of miscarriage was much higher than risk of T16 happening again and getting this far. He is scanning me again at 15 weeks and said I can have amino if I want (but i'm scared of the miscarriage risks)

Just don't know what to do. Im worried that there could be a chromosome abnormality even though scans looks fine.

@Stargazer89 I feel your pain honestly pregnancy after loss is so so hard and you just constantly convince yourself something is going to go wrong. What is kind of helping me is remembering this is a new pregnancy and my passed losses do not affect future pregnancy. If they have no concerns from your 12 week scan I would just definitely wait for your 15 week scan then your 20 week one and go from there. But please even though its hard you have to keep positive.

Everything is going so well for me I find it quite hard to believe. I have my 20 week scan next week which I cant lie I’m completely anxious about It feels like the last hurdle that I pass which I can start to relax after. My 12 week scan was perfect and I had a gender scan at 16 weeks we found out we were having a boy and they checked him over and said everything is perfect with him too. Physically I am fine and can even feel little kicks which is amazing but mentally I am struggling I feel like im still not believing it yet, its frustrating but I’m remaining positive, I have to. I will get my healthy baby boy in July x

Hi all🥰

It's so hard not to be anxious @Cindy974 like you I have had my 12 week scan and then had a gender scan at 16 weeks which confirmed a baby girl, but I still feel uneasy. It feels so overwhelming to think this is actually happening. I have my 20 week scan in a couple of weeks which I am looking forward to. Even though everything has been well so far it's always in the back of my mind.

@Stargazer89 were you earlier on in the pregnancy when they confirmed the T16? I'm not too clued up on these things so unsure if you know already? If you wait until the 20 week scan to check baby over can you decide to do further testing at that point if needed? Hopefully all is fine and you don't need to consider it, particularly as 12week was all fine xx

Cindy974 · 23/02/2023 22:55

@Anon2021x I’m so glad everything is going well for you and your baby girl. Its sad that we have to be so untrusting of our bodies but hopefully as time passes we can become more positive. I just can’t wait to hold him in my arms x
