Hi all,

so very confused, I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks and my scan could not find anything but they told me they could see the residual passing tissue.

fast forward, I think I may be pregnant again (not long after) I have now just been for my 4 week scan and they told me the sac is measuring at 7 weeks (I know I can only be 4.5 weeks max) with nothing else to be seen as of yet. My bloods haven’t returned yet but home pregnancy tests are saying a definite positive, could be left over hormones from the previous pregnancy… main question is has anyone had this happen with a sac measuring larger ?

Sorry accidentally posted too early…

Sorry, I don’t have experience but of this, and I can imagine you’ve been up all night googling. Im so sorry for the stress you’re going through ❤️

How did they manage your MC last month? Have you had a negative test? Is it possible this is part of your pregnancy from last month?

alittleadvicepls · 20/12/2022 05:08

Shouldn’t a 7 week scan show a foetal pole at the very least if not a heartbeat? Why did they give you a scan at 4 weeks? The earliest scan my fertility clinic offers is 6 weeks because that’s when you can start seeing the heartbeat.

@TheWeeLittleDonkey Yeah, correct the concern is that it is from the previous mc even though the last scan after the mc there wasn no sac at all. So I did think that all passed and perhaps this was a new pregnancy … so very confusing

@alittleadvicepls
yeah it would normally be 8 weeks for my first scan, but due to the past mc they wanted to ensure it was a new pregnancy or leftover from the last. I had no intention of seeing anything other than a sac today. The concern is the sac is measuring 2.5 weeks ahead of where it should be and the last scan had shown no sac at all after the mc. I’m waiting to hear from the doctor but am just trying to see if anyone else had a sac measurements further along and still be ok

4 weeks would often be too early to see anything. You can usually start to see a sac at 5 weeks and then embryo from 6 weeks.

I had a scan at 5w5 days and they couldn’t see anything at all. I had to go back the next day as they suspected etopic. They actually found the sac that day measuring 6mm. The sonographer from the day before had missed it. That was why I asked how they managed you last time, as maybe they missed it.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this OP and I hope someone is able to give you some better information.

Keep us updated with how you get on x

@TheWeeLittleDonkey thank you so much ❤️ so many different possibilities! He may have missed it after the mc as I didn’t do anything after as the doctor was happy to see if all would pass naturally. Wishing now I had of so I could be certain x time will only tell I guess at this point

just to update for anyone else in the future with possibly the same issue.

so, the sac was left from the previous MC and missed in previous ultrasounds. I’ve now had a d&c so time to re start the process after my hormones are back in check !
