Hey! I’m just looking for advise to see if anyone has been in this experience, I’m a first time mum

  • my due date is Christmas Day, baby is fully down there and VERY low behind pubic bone.
I had a sweep yesterday at 12pm in which she said my cervix were closed. I was given the stretch and massage instead. I lost a fair amount of dark dark blood 3 hours later, not mucousy but not exactly watery. Had bad lightening crotch through the day and pressure and been woken up through the night with cramps and they are now radiating to my back on only my left side.

Does anyone know if perhaps this is early signs of slow labour maybe and that the stretch and massage did something?

It's quite possible of course! Good luck. How exciting.

Well, my waters broke at 8 months..... and as it was in the middle of the night I woke up groggy and thought I'd pissed in the bed.....

Yes I think it is. Try and look for a pattern

all the best

Yes very likely. When I had a stretch and sweep labour began like that. Hope it all goes smoothly!

Mum2come · 20/12/2022 06:32

Definitely a pattern. My ‘contraction timer’ has said to prepare as I had 5 in 1 hour every 13 minutes on average! The cramps have gotten strong and my belly gets very hard at the same time! :D

@Mum2come how are you getting on?

Mum2come · 21/12/2022 08:42

Unfortunately didn’t go in to labour, it may have been something called ‘latent labour’ lost a lump of my plug yesterday so hoping he’s here before Xmas day!

Wish you all the best !!!!

Latent labour is early labour.
You could well be in the latent phase, but also membrane sweeps can sometimes cause discomfort mimicking the latent phase without actually stimulating it.

Either way, you will be having a baby soon!
