Do you need the loo at night in pregnancy?

I do sometimes once or twice a night currently 17 weeks. Usually as I've had a big drink before bedtime asvI try and keep hydrated all the time.

I see a Chinese doctor for acupuncture who is adamant that weeing at night when you're younger is a bad thing and means your qi/ hormones could be out of whack.

She always goes on about it and I start worrying there's something wrong with me, even though I'm doing fine so far by Western medical standards. Not sure how a bladder is supposed to hold on for 8 hours with a uterus pressing on it?

Yes, I remember getting up in the night when I was pregnant. Baby is 11 months now and I haven't needed to once he was born.

You’ll be going every 2hrs at the end!

The Chinese doctor is batshit, I’d steer clear.

I was up in the night weeing every two hours. Relentless!

Nursemumma92 · 19/12/2022 11:27

Yes this is entirely normal, does she not understand anatomy?! Come the end of pregnancy it will be relentless.

I was like this before pregnancy as well as after. I drink a lot of water.

Sometimes I wonder if she's just looking for problems thar aren't really there

I had a couple of previous losses but this pregnancy has been good so far and I'm feeling more hopeful and confident in my body.

I come out of the session with her feeling like there could be something wrong. Its not good for me psychologically so I know I should stop going but I think the acupuncture itself has been good and I'm reluctant to suddenly stop

It's standard. It does at least mean you're already used to getting up in the night before the baby is born!

Ask yourself whether she stands to make more money out of you if you have more health anxieties....

Just use someone else if you’d still like acupuncture. Don’t give money to someone that is preying on you.

37 weeks and I personally don't, I pee before I sleep at 10 and then when I wake up at like 7 ish 😊

HippeePrincess · 19/12/2022 14:43

I also drink lots of water and don’t restrict it at all and I was getting up 1-2 times in first tri, and 2-3 times in second…. I’m now 33 weeks and waking every 90 mins or so to pee and or change positions.

Bizzyone · 19/12/2022 14:47
