Anyone Taken Esomeprazole (Nexium) in 3rd Trimester?

I know the preferred drug is Omeprazole, but was unable to pick up my prescription for it (dull story). I have Nexium, has anyone taken this in third trimester? From what I have read, Omeprazole contains Esomeprazole, plus another compound. I have horrendous GERD where I wake up essentially choking on stomach acid if I don't take it, burning my throat and lungs, else wouldn't be considering it. I'm in my 38th week of pregnancy.

It would only be one tablet today, and one tomorrow as can pick up proper prescription Monday when chemist opens.

I’ve been taking esomeprazole every other day since about 24 weeks as my heart burn and reflux has been sooooooo bad it left me so sick and unable to eat and my GP refused to prescribe me anything!!

from my understanding there is no evidence that it causes any adverse effects but it’s also not been tested on pregnant women as of course it’s not exactly ethical 😂 I’m also pretty sure this medication is not absorbed by the blood stream as it only neutralises the acid within the stomach so doubt it would affect baby as would not reach them.

ive been suffering since week 14 of my pregnancy and after 10 weeks of gaviscon I just could not physically stomach anymore of it and the thought of spending another 4 months crippled by horrific heartburn and reflux filled me with dread!

Thank-you, that puts my mind at rest! I did end up taking it last night, after looking at some threads on BabyCentre. Seems like it has been prescribed to lots of women in the States, as well as being prescribed for newborns with reflux 🤷‍♀️ Also read some of the scientific articles, and omeprazole is a mixture of esomeprazole and something else, so I've essentially been taking esomeprazole for weeks anyway!
