I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant with twins and went behind the wheel of my car today, the first time in a while as I haven’t needed to.
I’m aware you shouldn’t have the belt over your bump and I had it as low down as possible but it wasn’t under my bump, on my lap as some websites have advised.

can placement of a seat belt pose a real risk?

I think you have to tell on yourself if there was a crash where the seatbelt would go and if it’s a problem.
You can buy a thingy that pulls it down, like this.

I’ve made no sense. By telling I mean gauging - you need to work out on yourself if it’s ok or not.

My midwife said to make sure the belt is placed low down over both hip bones, and flat not twisted.

You can belt mimi belt adjusters - was really grateful for mine when I was hit whilst pregnant - belt was held away from bump.
