I have an early scan tomorrow which we're doing privately and will be 9 weeks tomorrow based on my last period date. I just wondered if anyone has any experience with the early scans around that time, what you usually see, etc? Would love to see some photos of others!

I had a scan at around 9 weeks, can’t remember exact date, might have been 8 weeks 5 days. Doesn’t look much like a baby but you can sort of make out the general shape. We saw the heartbeat and also the outline of the sac which was apparently a positive at that stage that it was clear on the scan. Baby moved around a bit, kind of jerky movements but was cute to see.

@Thepotdog Thank you for sharing! It's so exciting! I cant wait to see the little bean for the first time. I think as long as you see a heartbeat and everything looks healthy I'll be happy, wanted to just check before telling family over Christmas

I had a scan at 8 weeks at window to the womb and it was a bit of a blob with a heartbeat. Was reassuring to see it's all healthy and get an estimated due date and made it feel more real seeing it! Good luck x

@PeachyMama I think thats what I'm hoping for, just want to check everything is as it should be before I tell anyone, thank you 😊

But do you really want to know just before christmas in case it isn't alright? I had a couple of chemicals and miscarriages and it does crush your spirit a bit if there isn't a heart beat.

Also, before you tell all the family at christmas dinner: are you absolutely sure that nobody there might be experiencing (primary or secondary) infertility? I would have died inside during fertility treatments if I had to fake a smile the whole of christmas dinner. I get that you are very enthusiastic, and you should be, but 1 in 5 couples experience fertility problems so that's a lot of people.

Unfortunately I’ve had three scans where I’ve seen the heartbeat and went on to miscarry, so seeing the heartbeat is not necessarily reassuring for me!

Top was a scan at about 7 weeks (measured 7.5) and then bottom was a scan at 9+3. Had no plans for a second scan but after awful awful cramping decided to get one for piece of mind. Was interesting to see how much it had grown!

Just thought would update that scan went well 😊measuring the right date as to what it should be and we saw the little heartbeat

@DuchessofSandwich I would have wanted to know either way before I told anyone whether good or bad news. I am sure that none of my family are going through any issues, on Christmas day is just my parents and my sister and her partner, we don't have a huge family Christmas. I know my own family very well.

@Dogmum11 awwh that scans so cute, that's great to see the growth!
