Whooping cough vaccine has others in it?

I've just been for my whooping cough vaccine and after she did it she told me it also protects against diphtheria and tetanus, she said it's a new type she's given me.

Is this normal?

There is no whooping cough only vaccine so completely normal. I don’t think that’s a new thing though, it’s been used for years x

Totally normal had mine last year whne pregnant. If you look up the NHS website it does say that it is a combined vaccine as well as in your purple pregnancy book.

They've combined them for decades. It's good to get boosted for all three at a go.

It’s good practice for the nurse to tell you exactly what’s in the vial before administering.
Patients should also look at the packaging before accepting the shot.

It’s extremely rare but cock-ups can happen.

Ah I don't have a pregnancy folder or anything just an app which is useless that my midwife puts notes and test results on (takes weeks).

Thanks everyone x

It's normal, and was 7 years ago when I had my oldest, so not a new thing. Poor practice not to tell you until after you'd had it though.

On the plus side, once you have small children you spend more time bere foot, paddling in rivers, so I was pleased to have had the Tetanus vax.

late reply here but my one year old is here healthy and I had the whooping cough vaccine AND I had a whooping cough vaccine today as I am currently 30 weeks pregnant. It’s everyone’s individual decision but me personally if you see a video of a new born baby with whooping cough in hospital you wouldn’t hestitate. I would never have forgiven myself had one of my babies got that and I never vaccinated against it.
