Hi ladies!

The two week wait is driving me INSANE so I thought I'd ease my pain a bit by asking a fun question.

If you did, how did you know you were pregnant before the positive test?
What was that little telltale sign that was different from your usual PMS symptoms 😁

After the first time, I knew before BFP because embarrassingly I got HORRENDOUS gas, and an insatiable appetite.

Lightmarebeforechristmas · 16/12/2022 07:22

Sense of smell was increased, I remember thinking that kitchen cleaner was really strong

Pictograph · 16/12/2022 07:24

The only symptom I got before a positive test was a sort of dragging sensation in my lower abdomen.

newusernamegloria · 16/12/2022 07:24

Very strong sense of smell each time

mondaytosunday · 16/12/2022 07:25

With my son I felt the implantation - sharp pain that woke me up. And because I was sure of that I think anything else I felt I put down to being pregnant - though most likely it was all coincidental. Strong positive when I did test.
My daughter not so much - with both I wasn't monitoring things that closely so wasn't looking at the calendar, just vaguely aware when I was due. If I got my period a bit of disappointment but it was t like I was counting the days. When I eventually passed that date snd tested it wasn't a strong positive so I waited and tested again and still wasn't convinced! I told GP I thought I might be snd as I'm type 1 diabetic they sent me to the hospital and they had the scanner free - that finally convinced me!

With DD2 I had the worst implantation pain, it nearly knocked me off of my feet. It was the last day at work before the Christmas holidays and we were doing a quiz. I stood up to go and give our answer sheet in and what I can only describe as a pain as though something was screwing into my abdomen ripped through me. Got the positive pregnancy test four days later.

Nothing like that with DD1, although I was sick in my classroom bin at 7dpo and then puked every day at least four times a day for the next 40 weeks (hyperemesis) but at the time I didn't clock on, I just thought it was a bug I had caught from one of the kids at school.

ProserpinaProserpina · 16/12/2022 07:39

I just knew. Both times. I think I found out before 4 weeks with both of them because I woke up in the morning and thought ‘I’m pretty sure I’m pregnant’. We weren’t trying with either so it wasn’t like it was actively on my mind.

Everydaywheniwakeup · 16/12/2022 07:42

Missed a second period and boobs were spectacularly sore.

winterbride23 · 16/12/2022 07:54

I kept falling asleep on the couch before 7pm- literally couldn't keep my eyes open!

Screwedupworld · 16/12/2022 08:04

I knew before the test went positive, I just had a strange feeling I can’t explain. I felt so warm all the time and my sense of smell was ridiculous. Once it went positive and a couple weeks had past is when the sickness started right up until he was born lol. Good Luck OP - sending you baby dust. X

Awh I love these sorts of threads! I’m in the TWW just now, AF due 19th. Don’t have the tender achey breasts that I usually have this close to period. I’m only 11DPO but I have been SO good at not testing this month, usually I have the internet cheapies out at 9DPO.

I was 22 when fell pregnant with DD12 and wasn’t symptom spotting as wasn’t TTC. When I tested positive I suddenly knew why I had been so uncharacteristically shattered for a couple of weeks. My only other pregnancy (ended in MMC in June this year) was one where I just felt… strange. I can’t describe it any other way than I just felt different. I would love to have that feeling now!

A Big fluffy towel felt as if I'd rubbed my nipples on a cheese grater.

elm26 · 16/12/2022 08:10

I always know I'm pregnant because I get tearful!

I was driving and saw a tiny pony and burst into tears because it was cute and I'm not even a fan of horses/ponies 🤣

Tested next morning and faint line 4 days before period was due.

Bananas52 · 16/12/2022 08:18

First pregnancy, sense of smell was extremely heightened. I didn't think anything of it but my husband told me I was pregnant. Tested next morning and positive.
Second pregnancy, I had a pulling/lightening on 6/7dpo that were different to usual pms cramps and 7/8dpo insatiable hunger. Tested on 9dpo as I just felt like I knew I was pregnant, and was.

thelma57 · 16/12/2022 08:26

SORE SORE BOOBS 😂 and I had a lower back pain on the right hand side which I’ve since found out is the side bean is on. Other than that it felt like my period was coming, which is a head f for sure!

Good luck 💕

Dustyblue · 16/12/2022 08:37

So interesting to read others' experiences!

I was 41 when I finally had one that stuck, so was well familiar with the tww and the sympton spotting. No ivf, just patience and luck.

For me- felt as if I was about to come on with the worst period yet. Sore, dragging feeling in lower abdo & boobs hurt a lot.

Was only after I got that 2nd faint like at 12dpo that I realised I could smell an apple from the other side of the kitchen. Ahh, memories.

Roselilly36 · 16/12/2022 08:43

Extreme tiredness, went off foods I usually loved - chocolate. Craved healthy food. Tea taste’s like the milk was sour. Had bad period type pains, convinced my period was coming, it didn’t.

MissMaple82 · 16/12/2022 08:45

I knew almost straight away, I literally felt things happening in my uterus. I'm very intoned with my.bidy and my body felt different. Its hard to explain. But ivr been pregnant 5 times and felt this.each time

ProcrastinatingUntilNextYear · 16/12/2022 08:46

With my first I suddenly became constantly hungry. As I walked up the street I could smell any cooking coming from restaurants and wanted to eat it. I started eating a meal between lunch and dinner, then I started getting lower back aches, dizzy spells and my boobs felt like they were going to pop they were so swollen and my nipples turned a brownish colour.
With my second I just knew. Something in my head kept telling me I was pregnant, there weren’t strong symptoms that I remember. I tested a couple of days before my period was due and I was right.

LaMarschallin · 16/12/2022 08:49

Started weeing a lot more than usual and was very hungry. I used to never have breakfast but suddenly was starving in the morning.
The best side effect of that was when DH and I went to a Chinese restaurant where we always ordered one of the set banquets, which we loved but could never finish, and I polished the lot off. Up to and including using a damp fingertip to gather up the crumbs Blush
And I could have gone for fish and chips afterwards.

Angrymum22 · 16/12/2022 08:54

My sense of smell was off the scale and I went off coffee and tea. I knew something wasn’t right.
We weren’t actively ttc at the time, we’d actually given up after multiple miscarriages and failed fertility treatment.
I was 6 weeks when I tested though, I kept putting it off because of past experience. But DS “stuck” and is now a 6’3” 18 yr old who is still a joy to be around.

MO22 · 16/12/2022 08:56

Both times I had horrible, horrible gas in the second half of the TWW 😂 and a sore back.

This pregnancy I remember walking in front of a woman smoking at like 6 dpo and honestly it was SO strong and repulsive! As an ex smoker I've never reacted like that before so I had an inkling something was up. I was also temping and my temp went up 11 dpo so I allowed myself a cheeky test but kinda knew I was going to see a positive and I did. Was such a relief! ❤️

lilroo87 · 16/12/2022 09:00

First pregnancy I actually didn't realise, just kept waiting for my period. We'd been trying for a year and every month I had different symptoms so was convinced every month I was pregnant but never was. The month I was, I just had sore boobs (normal period sign) so assumed I wasn't. Day 5 of no period I did a test and was pregnant.
This pregnancy I had a weird backache and for some reason thought I'd do a test and was pregnant, it was a definite shock as wasn't expecting it.

FlamingoBabe · 16/12/2022 09:06

I was STARVING. Both with my DS and this pregnancy, I just could not feel full. I also had “womb ache” as well which felt different than PMS

JennyForeigner · 16/12/2022 09:16

My mouth was horribly dry from day 3 after implantation in both (successful) tries. I was a bit hot and sweaty both times as well.
