First pregnancy vs second pregnancy

So I'm about 6 weeks pregnant. I'm feeling very different to how I did with my first, and it's starting to concern me.

With my first I had terrible acid reflux from day one, felt very nauseas this early and was very fatigued.

This time, I still feel fatigued but I don't feel as sick, don't have acid reflux and instead I'm getting migraines which I never did in pregnancy #1.

I'm really worried something is wrong. So I thought I'd ask here whether people have experienced the same?

My two pregnancies was completely different. First one never had any sickness/nausea, only started feeling tired towards the end and showed quite late. Second pregnancy was throwing up before I even tested positive, couldn’t keep my eyes open for the first 14ish weeks, terrible headaches. Both pregnancies had healthy babies.

Hi, I'm pregnant with number 2. I didn't get reflux until 30+ weeks on number 1 but getting it from around 20 weeks on number 2.
More tired and more nauseous early on on number 2.
Didn't have migraines with either.
So fewer symptoms for me on number 1 who was born term and is now a healthy happy 3 year old!
I think each pregnancy is just very different for some reason. All I can say is check with your go or midwife if you are concerned.

I never had any sickness with either pregnancy. In fact they were identical pregnancies filled with back pain and heartburn. Both born 5lb 3oz, both girls after a pretty identical labour! Second one is 3 months old and is still the same as her sister.

36 weeks with second baby, very different pregnancy this time.

First time - very little nausea, tired at the start, a couple of weeks of afternoon hangover feeling and needing naps and a week of food aversions but mostly ok. But awful PGP in 3rd trimester, lots of pain. Indigestion the whole way through though, had to have Rennie before I could get up every morning.

This time - was never sick but felt so nauseous and dizzy for about 9 weeks from week 3. Exhausted (parenting a toddler this time probably hasn’t helped though) but minimal PGP, a bit of pain here and there but nothing like last time. Much more emotional this time too, and considering last time was mid covid and I could have been really anxious suggests to me it’s hormonal! Zero indigestion issues.

Every pregnancy is different, sometimes very much so. There’s no reason to think different symptoms this time indicate an issue

I’m currently eight weeks pregnant with my second and was having the same worries but a scan yesterday showed that everything is looking normal - I saw a lovely little bean with a nice fast heartbeat. I have some symptoms this time round but feel much less nauseous than my last pregnancy, much more tired and keep getting lightheaded, which I didn’t last time. My skin is also much better than it was in each of my last two pregnancies (I had a MMC before I had my DD) - I had awful acne and red patches with them!
I absolutely get the concern but I’m just trying to remember that every pregnancy is different - and maybe this one’s a boy instead!

My pregnancies have been quite different.

DC1 - insomnia, extreme hunger and tiredness first 12 weeks. Fine until 7 months. Pelvic girdle pain but not too bad until the very end, acid reflux from 8 months. No nausea. Insomnia again at week 38. Big weight gain.

DC2 - no insomnia but extreme fatigue, could barely function for 18 weeks. Crippling Pelvic girdle pain from 5.5 months, to the point I could barely walk. Not a huge appetite other than the first 12 weeks. Nausea and vomiting first 4 months. Acid reflux from 6 months onwards. Mostly bump weight, not much weight gained elsewhere. Extreme tiredness again in month 8 onwards.

Try not to worry. Most friends of mine have also had different pregnancies. Both of my children same gender as well.

Currently 39+1 with baby 2. Pregnancies have been completely different.

Much more sick this time and for longer, rather than 'just' nausea. Horrendous acid reflux. No cravings this time. Really hideous, spotty skin and greasy hair.

First baby was a girl and this baby is a boy!

Ah thank you so much everyone! These have been so interesting to read! I feel totally different so far with this one. Think having had early losses before, I'm a bit paranoid! But obviously its common to feel different with each pregnancy.

I'm less sick this time, but still tired and mega emotional. Only just 6 weeks though so I guess it's still very early...expecting an onslaught on symptoms soon. On the plus side, time is going much faster this time 🤣

@Createcomet how are u? Did the migraines continue? X

Thought I'd update further about how different pregnancies can be...

When I posted this, I was plodding along as normal, going about my day. 7 hours later I went into labour and my son was born a few hours after that, all within 12 hours of first posting my last message, out of the blue.

Createcomet · 29/05/2023 12:56

@Starrr123 I'm okay thanks. Into the 3rd trimester. Getting migraines maybe twice a month so not too bad but they mostly seem to be triggered by work.

Feeling very sick, dizzy and exhausted though which I didn't get at this stage in my first pregnancy. Genuinely thought I was going to pass out in the supermarket earlier. Felt really disoriented. Midwife says Blood pressure is a little low, but I'm not sure there's a lot I can do about it. She didn't seem concerned.

@Chanel05 wow! Huge congratulations! That's amazing. Hope you're all doing well. I'd love for mine turn up at 39 weeks, not gonna lie. Last one was 41+1 and emergency section 🤦‍♀️

@Createcomet so sorry to hear your unwell :( but congratulations that you pregnant ☺️ When i was pregnant with my first i had an AWFUL pregnancy. Migraines , sickness joint issues! Really hope if i get pregnant again it will be different!

i suffer with low bp! Try not having hot baths, dont over heat. Eating salt raises my bp! xx
