Waiting to be induced

I've been waiting 2 days now and so fed up. Every time I call they say I'm on the list and will get called in when they have space. This is so frustrating. I understand they are busy but how long can they expect women to wait. Also being called in anytime between 8am and 10pm is a ball ache for someone who needs to arrange childcare at home!

I feel you OP - my induction got pushed back 5 days and then I eventually went into labour spontaneously at 40+2.

It was frustrating not knowing each day, and I didn't have childcare to worry about. Hope they can get you in soon!

Sounds like a nightmare! I’d really hate the waiting.

Maybe treat yourself to your favourite dinner and long bath to take your mind off waiting.

hope you get called soon!

Thank you both. I'm such a heavy, stressed hormonal pregnant woman which doesn't help. I had a long bath, a good cry and a lot of chocolate!

Why are you being induced? Are you worried about yourself or baby?

I just don't understand how maternity service operate the induction wards, always seems a complete shambles, either they need a baby out or they don't !

Hopefully you go into labour naturally while you're waiting, fingers crossed for you and baby is here soon x

Arg the waiting is the worst! Though, saying that I was induced every day for 4 days and was kept in hospital the whole time.

@Hopefulbride18 thank you. 2 consultants have said my baby has stopped growing now so needs to come out, I'm currently 38 weeks. Baby is still moving and okay just not growing and they don't know why. I guess it can't be much of an emergency though as they are still keeping me waiting Sad

Oh no, hopefully you are a priority and you won't be waiting too much longer!!

Jealous of you getting snuggly newborn cuddles for Christmas ❤️

It is rotten, and you have all my sympathies. I went through it back in March. I was an inpatient the whole time for a week before induction even started, and then the best part of another week waiting for it to continue.

Unfortunately, staffing/beds issues meant that even though I was a reasonably high priority (pre-eclampsia), women who were already in labour were a much higher priority (naturally). So I kept getting bumped down the list until there was finally both a bed and staff for me.

I hope you get called in soon.

I had this exact situation in September but I was being induced at 37 weeks due to IUGR.
On day 3 of waiting we went in for monitoring and I had a headache, my Bp was slightly raised so they jumped me right up the queue. A quick sweep showed I was 2cm and I had my waters broken at 4pm, on the drip at 6pm, gas and air for an hour or so at 9pm and my baby was born at 10.18pm!

The waiting is awful I rang up crying as no one was telling me anything useful and I had a 3 year old to think about. Hope you're sorted now!
