NHS Increment and maternity pay

Hi everyone!

Im appealing to any NHS Payroll gurus!
I am due to go on maternity leave February next year. I’ve had my forecast but during my qualifying weeks I also went up an increment.

I thought the policy was that ALL of my maternity pay would be paid at a higher increment, but payroll haven’t included this on the forecast and when queried it, they said it was just an estimate and appeared to not really answer the question.

Does anyone know if I will be paid at the higher increment for the whole time or part of the time? It’s an extra £100 so I’m keen to have it!

Thanks!
Claire

Hi @Litherlander

I had a lot of drama with this, I found the NHS service handbook helpful, it’s very clear that any pay increase wether due to a promotion, increment etc should be used to calculate your maternity leave. I’ve attached a picture of the exact wording, I hope that’s helpful!

Good luck
