What should you feel when using a birthing ball?!

Hi everyone

I've only just started using a birthing ball in my last few weeks...

I've followed videos on YouTube on exercises to do on the ball. Just wondering, what are you supposed to feel when using the ball? I've used it for about 40 mins and I feel like the baby's back is really pushing against my stomach... is this a good sign?

Thank you!

I can't remember feeling anything but a heavy tummy. I just bounced 🤷🏽‍♀️

Just bounce and wiggle about and it should help you be more active and more likely to get baby into a good position. It can also help relieve pressure on your back etc - I used to sit on mine to watch tv if I couldn't get comfortable on the sofa.

Sometimes I felt pressure in my pelvis.

Just be prepared that if you've spent weeks on the birthing ball, your baby might only settle being bounced once they arrive! Or maybe thats just my baby.

I've been sort of just rolling about on mine. More messing about than bouncing or doing anything proper. But my baby has gone from being back to back to facing the right way and fully engaged since I've been using it!

Are you sitting in the ball OP or resting your torso on it?

I just felt relief in my very sore pelvis and back to be honest, I don't remember feeling anything different in the baby.

My labour started while on mine and it gave me a lot of relief in the early stages, I refused to give it up in the hospital for a good few hours until they made me lie down on the bed 😡

Thank you all!! Very useful information.

@sleighbellsjiggling haha I can see that being the same case for me too. It felt really relaxing moving around on it last night lol.

@boingboingboingboing sorry I don't know what you mean. I've been sitting on it and bouncing, moving around, stretching etc.
