Pregnant again after molar - reassurance?

I got pregnant this year for the first time but unfortunately it was molar. I'm now pregnant again, just 4 + 3 and though I'm really trying to stay calm I can't help but worry that this will be another molar. I have an early scan in two weeks to check to make sure it's a regular pregnancy, but I was wondering in the meantime if anyone who has gone through the same thing has any reassuring words?

I'm sorry for your recent loss. I haven't had a molar pregnancy myseelf but know someone who did with her first pregnancy. She went on to have five successful pregnancies afterwards.

Likewise, I have a friend who had a molar pregnancy and then two healthy children. Wishing you all the best OP Flowers

My friend had a molar pregnancy followed by 2 very healthy pregnancies. She's now a happy mum of two. All the best to you.

Hi, I had a molar about 4 years ago. I felt the same when I got pregnant again.
I had an early scan and they could see the baby and a heartbeat at about 6w.
I was really anxious early in pregnancy but everything was fine. Iv got healthy 1 year old now.

I really think a molar is crazy bad luck. I hope this time is better luck for you 😊

@helloimnew123 Thank you so much for your response, so so glad to hear everything went well for you. I know it is likely to be fine, it's just hard when you've already had a rare thing happen to not think you could end up being in that small percentage who have it happen again!

@AnotherStory23
I completely understand how you feel. I was very stressed and anxious when I got pregnant again. It's hard not to think the worst.

I know there is more of a chance of it happening again once you'v had 1. But I think the odds are still very low.

Not long until your first scan. From there they can tell you if it's all good. X

AnotherStory23 · 13/12/2022 12:35

@helloimnew123 Yes you are totally right, the odds are low. I really have been trying to keep calm, but it's just got a bit more to me today. Not long and then I'll know what's going on in there!

My friend also had a molar first pregnancy and went on to conceive a healthy little boy no issues. I hope all goes well, I'm sure it well x x

AnotherStory23 · 28/12/2022 12:21

Thank you for replying @myratlyr, very kind of you

Wanted to post an update in case it helps anyone else: had my scan today and saw a little heartbeat. Never thought I'd see that! For anyone else who has had a molar, stay strong, there is light at the end of the tunnel

Brilliant news @AnotherStory23! wishing you all the best.

@AnotherStory23 this is fabulous news! I’ve just come across this post as I’ve found out I’m pregnant again following a partial molar and am also nervous! So this has brought me a bit of peace ❤️
did you have extra scans on NHS or were they private?
hope everything is still going well!

AnotherStory23 · 28/04/2023 11:51

@PinkOshen Congratulations! Yes my local EPU offered me two earlier scans, one at 6+4 and one at 9+4. How far along are you? I'm now 23+6 weeks

PinkOshen · 28/04/2023 15:20

Oh fantastic! I am so so pleased for you! I am only 4+1 currently, so going to contact the local midwife service soon and let them know - you’ve definitely made me calmer so thank you very much

AnotherStory23 · 28/04/2023 16:15

Oh I'm so pleased to hear that - this is exactly why I wanted to post a positive update! Yes, I was told to just call them once I was pregnant again and they would scan me. They were super understanding and were very willing to scan me more than once. Best of luck! I'm sure you'll be fine
