I’m a new poster so I hope this posts some how ☺️
im currently in the third trimester but I’ve been hit with this nasty cold/flu that’s going around currently, I cannot stop coughing up phlegm and the strain it’s having on bump. I’m struggling to eat very much due to not being able to breathe through my nose as I try.
all I’ve had is some cereal a ham sandwich some fruit and half a bowl of pasta can anyone tell me if this will affect baby? I’m 30 and first time mum so sorry if this sounds abit ott

Hello and welcome to MN! Wink

The baby will be absolutely fine. You can try breathing over a bowl of hot water to help you to breathe. You can also take paracetamol to help with any discomfort.

If the mucus is yellow or green, I'd see the GP tomorrow as you might need antibiotics.

Having limited calories for a few days won't harm the baby though, they'll just take anything they need from your body. Just make sure you have plenty of fluids and a good pregnancy vitamin Flowers

I had flu when I was about 33 weeks, I felt so ill that I wanted to die.
Baby was absolutely fine, but I did pull a muscle in my bump with coughing, and it was so painful.
Keep drinking.

Thank you ladies!
mucus is often clear/whiteish (maybe a off white yellow.) I’ve seen a doctor who said it’s most likely viral but lungs sound clear which was reassuring☺️
just feel awful for little bean as I’m not eating well and I just feel like poop!!! I think all the mucus is coming from my nose as I can feel it when I swallow. I’ll definitely try a bowl of water to help with the airways and hopefully this will work I can’t wait to be able to breathe again or even smell. I keep waking up to my tummy rumbling so I’m sure I’m not eating enough but I just can’t chew anything from this bloody breathing🙁

oh bless you - yes when I cough I feel like my muscles are going to ping!

Try eating things that just slide down like tinned peaches, custard, yogurt.
Remember that baby will take from you, so it will be fine.

Thank you! Definitely going to go get some yogurts and custard!!
