SCH Heavy Bleeding Positive Stories

Hi Everyone,
I am currently 12+5 pregnant and was diagnosed with a SCH at 11 weeks after an enormous haemorrhage with large clots that resulted in me rushing to A&E (thankfully baby is fine). I have since had 3 haemorrhage style bleeds and have just been for my official 12 week scan and although baby is fine, my SCH has increased in size - how can this be after all the bleeding I have had? The sonographer wasnt too helpful unfortunately. I am so worried - does anyone have similar stories with positive outcomes please? I can find an abundance of scary stories online and would love some reassurance please 🙏

Hello. I also suffered from this at around 8 weeks, so I know how worrying this can be. It eventually shrunk in size and I now have a cheeky, happy 7 month old boy ❤️ wishing you all the best in your pregnancy. X

Thank you @bububblesqueak27! Do you remember how long it took to shrink in size? X

Mine took around 4/5 weeks I think - I had bleeding for about 3 weeks non-stop and was certain that something wasn't right! Then it just suddenly stopped and everything was fine. I had a scan at 14 weeks and there was no sign of it. I did rest a lot though - lots of bed rest, began working from home and stopped heavy exercise! Xx

Hi, I'm currently going through since. I was diagnosed with a extra chorionic haemorrhage. My bleed lasted less than 24 hours when I was 6 weeks and then again at 7 weeks. I'm now 9 weeks and 2 days and last night when I wiped I had a very dark brown bleed. Once I wiped it had gone and its now just dark brown discharge when I wipe. I have a private scan Friday so hopefully baby is OK. I'm worrying thinking it's the start of a MC. I think mine was bigger than the babies sac when I had the scan at 6 weeks but cannot remember the exact size. I will keep you in loop on my scan. But I'm also looking for reassurance in meantime too :( so scared x

I had a SCH in my pregnancy, first diagnosed with a huge bleed and clots at 7 weeks. I was told to take it easy (pelvic rest) and wait to see if the clot was absorbed. I had on and off bleeding until 16 weeks when it finally resolved itself. I do remember how anxious I was and I was having scans each week to see if it had reduced in size. Sending best wishes..

Thank you, i just cannot enjoy this pregnancy as I'm constantly worried something bad is going to happen. Friday feels like a life time away! 😪

@Amyp1234 if it's any consolation I had brown bleeding from the moment of implantation until now (12+6 weeks)- some days heavier than others with more red and pink blood, whilst other days was just more discharge like. I have put myself on bed rest (well home rest) and hoping that again by next week when I have another ultrasound the SCH will have reduced in size. I have now had 3 haemorrhage style bleeds where I stand up and blood literally gushes out of me and completely soaks my clothes and baby is still just wiggling around in there happily everytime I have a scan! Can you not get an earlier scan with EPU? x

Thank you @eastsheener I'm hoping to see mine resolved by the 16 week mark too! X

Thank you for this. Sorry that you are having the terrible bleeds. EPU aren't interested because the bleeds aren't heavy or red. They just fob me off to go to A & E if I'm flooding. So will have to wait till Friday.

You will be absolutely fine @Amyp1234 , the important thing is you know you have the SCH so any brown old blood is most likely just part of the SCH that has shed away and taken a while to come out. I take comfort in knowing I am in no pain and just have my normal mild cramps from where everything is growing and moving- and also what I was told by my midwife is anytime your uterus grows or moves it could slightly irritate the SCH which will cause more blood. Stay positive and keep me updated with your scan on Friday x

@Tin10 had my scan on Friday and the little bean was wriggling around. Everything is good. She could see the hemorrhage on the scan which looked quite large. She never measured it but I'm sure the NHS 12 weeks scan will be more detailed. Feel so more relaxed now. Thank you for the reassurance x

@Amyp1234 excellent news I'm so happy for you! Positive until proven otherwise, that's what I try to live by :) I have another scan tomorrow too and am really hoping to see the Haematoma has decreased in size x
