7 weeks or earlier? Miscarriage or still pregnant?

So as the title says 7 weeks or earlier?
To start I do want to say this is my first baby. Woohoo exciting times!

BUT.. basically I've been going off an app that's called pregnancy+ and midwife's/doctors whoever you speak to always go off DOLP.

Well mine was 18/10 and I haven't had a period since that date. Considering we're now in December lol.

I've had a scare because of implantation bleeding (I saw blood and I got worried, im a worrierBlush).

Was told it was a miscarriage straight away, didn't do anymore investigating into it, just straight up said. Yep miscarriage, after I challenged this and asked what the signs and symptoms of a miscarriage and she couldn't tell me, and instead just said if your sure it isn't, take a test again in 10 days time and see what it says. So I did that, I waited, I waited a little over and did it at 14 days and it still said I was pregnant. Fabulous.

We went for our first midwife appointment at 7 weeks. Midwife did everything she needed to and asked the relevant questions and we decided to tell our parents. Well that went down like a sack of spuds.
They're furious, don't want to know, don't want to speak to us, don't want to see us. Which kicked the whole excitement right out of us, so I decided to book a private dating scan, which said could be done from 7 weeks +.

Got to the scan and she started looking and said she can see a gestational sac, but some gas bubble was blocking and obstructing the view of the uterus after a couple of minutes trying to look and she couldn't see anything else. But has told me to rebook the scan in 3 weeks, although she doesn't seem very worried she cannot do anything right now.

Can someone please help a girl out?

Am I still pregnant?
What is this gas bubble she's talking about?
Could it be that I'm just too early?
Has anyone else been through this?

Sorry for the long post, but it's the miscarriage from the gp which had me worried about this scan.

I'm a bit confused by your post.

'was told it was a miscarriage straightaway' - on what date, by whom? On what evidence ? Scan? Hcg ? Blood test?

Are your periods usually regular? By your date of LMP you'd be nearly 8 weeks. Not sure why you think you're 7 weeks or earlier.

It sounds like you've had a confusing time and it's never nice when family aren't supportive. I hope you get clarity soon and that things work out in the end.

@Whataretheodds.
Honestly me to. I went to the gp on 17/11
It was a GP who said straightaway miscarriage, when questioned I was told to test again 2 weeks later so I did. No evidence, they asked me for a urine sample to do another pregnancy test🤔

Clear blue said 1-2 weeks on 11/11.

So yes going off date of last period, 18/10. I would be 7+ 5.. I believe.

The reason why I'm wondering, mainly looking for clarification that I may just be earlier than the midwife and GP says is because the sonographer couldn't see anything on the scan only a 'gas bubble' which was obstructing the view of my uterus, but didn't expand on that.

@LER2023 was the gp referring to the implantation bleeding as a miscarriage? What date did you first test positive and when did you get the bleeding? Xx

LER2023 · 12/12/2022 06:33

@ChloeN I think she might have been.
I tested positive on 11/11 and the bleeding started a week later, but I had cramps to go with it, out of worry I rang 111 who sent me to the out of hours gp because of the pain I was having.
This was 17/11.

@LER2023 i guess that would put you at around 7-8 weeks where you should be able to see a baby and a heartbeat on the scan. But i see what you mean, if there was something covering their view that could mean they couldn’t see it! Can you try and call your local epu and ask for a rescan? They should be able to help!

This sounds like a missed miscarriage- so you were likely pregnant then the baby stopped developing but your body hasn’t caught up and still is producing hcg. If there were a baby there at this stage it’d be visible despite gas in the bowel I think. Sorry OP.

In early pregnancy with cramps and bleeding they call it a threatend miscarriage as it's too early to do a scan. They can do a blood test which checks the level of HCG.

The gas the sonographer was referring to was most likely bowel gas. They should have done a transvaginal scan for a clearer picture – did they do this OP?

For your own peace of mind, I suggest you contact the GP and say you had cramps and bleeding and request referral to EPAU, (early pregnancy assessment unit). Or you go back to private scan clinic and ask them to do a TV.

Unfortunately, as I have learnt on the past three occasions this has happened to me, there is no easy way to find out what is happening and unfortunately you just have to wait it out as terrible as it is.

HCG blood test need repeating as it's the trend that they are looking for rather than isolated blood test. HCP will go off LMP until they have a reliable date from a scan.
