Diabetic Matters

I plan to speak the the diabetic midwife later this week but wondered if anyone might be able to help in the meantime?

My Type 2 diabetes went into remission almost 10 years ago fayer having lost 13 stone. I am currently 11 weeks pregnant nad it was decided that I should be given a glucose blood monitor to keep an eye on my blood sugar to catch an sudden changes which would indicate GD. I have not been diagnosed with it.

I have been monitoring since Friday and do have the odd high reading. I eat whole foods, healthy fat, plwnty of fruit, veg and heathy fats. I know this has makes no healthy eatibg alone isn't going help with glucose levels.

My question is: those without diabetes experience sugar spikes depending on what they eat also, so how do I know when it's an issue for me? Also, do I need to make changes to my diet now, even without a diagnosis or signs of Gd?

I have found white bread and white carbs spike for me. Sugar (chocolates, cakes not so much). I think you'd be more prone to GD if you've had it before so id probs look tl cut out white carbs and additional sugars, eat at the right time, walk more etc
