Hello just yesterday I found out I am pregnant. This was a complete surprise. I was about 2-3 days late for my period when I tested and the 2 lines on the test came up straight away and were very dark lines. I’ve just done another test with a different brand and again it’s come up immediately with a strong positive. According to my dates I am 4+4 weeks. Would the tests have such dark lines at this stage in the pregnancy? I have 3 older children but haven’t been pregnant for 12 years.

Looks like a very strong positive to me.

Is this something you are happy about ?

ChloeN · 11/12/2022 13:51

@Justcanthackit I think they look as expected for 2-3 days late xx

Onnabugeisha · 11/12/2022 13:52

Yes, the tests today are much better than the ones 12yrs ago, so the lines would be stronger than you remember.

Congratulations. I conceived my ds at 44. Something of a shock but he's 14 now and I can't imagine life without him.

What a Christmas present 😊xx

They definitely look like normal lines for 4+ weeks pregnant. Were you worried about a multiple pregnancy?!

Hope everything works out well for you OP; I can imagine it’s a shock but take some time to gather your thoughts. Whatever you choose to do, I’m sending well wishes to you. 😊

Yes I am concerned about a multiple pregnancy as I already have twin daughters who are 17.

Yes normal, here’s mine at 3 weeks 5 days (bottom 2) and 4 weeks exactly (top 2).
Ours is a single pregnancy.

They definitely look like normal lines - I’d say mine were slightly darker than those at 4+4 but also know line darkness isn’t always indicative of a multiples pregnancy. I think you’re chances are high given that twins run in your family and the changes are increased further if you’re older, I believe.

Good luck! 🍀

By the time you are a few days late the hcg has had a good chance to start doubling. I'm just starting to get darker tests now. I'll be 5w4d on Monday, but I ovulate over a week late so more like 4wks. I'm 44 as well, but was ttc as my cycles have got really regular over the past 6-12 months. My daughters are 14 and 11yo. Just be aware of the higher risks for pregnancy loss - I had a MMC in September. I'm able to self refer to get a scan at the EPU due to previous losses / risk of loss.

You'll also be classed as higher risk because of your age and they discussed the possibilities of early induction with me at previous booking appointment. Make sure you are on a good prenatal vitamin. I'm also taking methyl folate (by Jarrow) as it's better absorbed and vitamin D with vit K2, plus other low dose vitamins to help me with progesterone levels (vitC, zinc, magnesium, B6/Bcomplex, selenium, etc).

Hello! Im I’m exactly the same position. Scared is an understatement. How are you doing?

@44andpregnant if you search OPs username you will see the outcome. Best not to revive potentially sensitive threads.

(I meant it’d be more useful to you to start your own thread, then your thoughts will be in the OP for people to reply to)
