Could this be multiples?!

I am currently 12 weeks pregnant with DC2 and have my first ultrasound on Wednesday, so of course I'll find out then the answer to my question, but just thought I'd ask for your experiences out of interest in the meantime Smile

So I got my BFP more than a week before AF was due. The positive appeared within seconds of taking the test and was very clear and dark. I did 2 more tests which were exactly the same. I'm confident re the timing of conception- I regularly track my cycles on the Flo App, had been TTC for about 4 months, and my periods were extremely regular (definitely had a period the month prior!)

With my first pregnancy, I was incredibly lucky and although I had slight nausea and food aversions in the first trimester, you wouldn't have known I was pregnant til about 20/25 weeks; I had no bump, no symptoms and pretty much lived my life as normal. Again, I have been very lucky in that I've had no morning sickness, but all my symptoms seem far more extreme this time. I've been incredibly nauseas, my food aversions are extreme, I have had tugging sensations in my stomach, I CANNOT stop eating and am starving all the time, and I feel as though I am starting to gain weight already. I somehow just 'feel' a lot more pregnant this time!

I know that every pregnancy is different, but I keep getting a niggling sensation that there are two in there!! Especially given the dark test so far in advance. Interested to hear your experiences Smile

Well maybe it could
Is there twins in your family or anything like that ?

I was very symptomatic on my second and third pregnancies / HG on my second requiring admission x 2, had breezed through my first - like you had minimal symptoms and hardly showed.
All singleton pregnancies

How were you tracking ovulation besides an app? I think the only vaguely accurate way (which still isn't very foolproof) is to use ovulation sticks and track BBT.

I meant to say that you could just have ovulated very early in your cycle, which would give you a strong positive a lot earlier in your cycle, and not be twins at all.

I should have said I also tracked with OPK and ovulated around day 12 x

I was the same with my first, didn't feel pregnant at all, no nausea no bump for months nothing. Just felt like myself. With my second now who is just a single baby also I've been very nauseous, constantly hungry, gained tons of weight, shown very early etc much like you. It's crazy how each pregnancy can be so different really who knows!

I do think there is an intuition with things like this some times. If you have a gut feel it could be twins.

I had two very different pregnancies and each time I got positive tests a week before my period was due. Both very symptomatic, I did find my boy pregnancies worse for eating and feeling sick.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 10/12/2022 08:45

I had the same with my second pregnancy including a super strong positive test and wondered the same but it turned out I was pregnant with a girl after having a boy first time. From talking to other mums it seems to make a difference!

Agree with other posters. It's most likely just a different pregnancy & symptoms are different too.
