TMI waxing down there while pregnant

Gosh this is really very TMI but I am grateful I can ask this anonymously.

Before getting pregnant I would get regular Hollywood waxes and now I'm pregnant I've only managed to go once because a lot of places have said they can't do pregnant women...

I found a salon recently that would do it but they (so sorry for the TMI) couldn't do my butt/crack and it's getting increasingly longer there.

It's making me more and more uncomfortable. Ladies in a similar situation did you just let it all grow au natural during pregnancy or are there salons that will do everything for you?

(Also before anyone says anything about DH should be ok with fuzz, it's all my own preference. I think because I've done it for so long now, nothing else feels comfortable or clean to me 😩)

I've just had twins so accepted the fact I couldn't see my vagina from early on. Out of sight out of mind.

I just had a vaginal delivery and managed to actually see my vagina again. I left it natural and I had about 12 doctors in my labour room and I honestly didn't give a flying f**k who saw it at that point 🥲.

HappyButHangry · 10/12/2022 02:26

I haven't seen mine in a while either tbh but I want it more for feeling comfortable purposes. Like it feels a bit scratchy for me. I think it's mainly because I'm so used to being quite bare down there, now there's a fair bit of fuzz it's driving me nuts 😭😭

I carried on getting a wax all through pregnancy. Just lay on my side for the back.

Chanel05 · 10/12/2022 02:58

I found someone in my local area who has a home salon room. Have had it done throughout my pregnancy and I'm 38+1.

When I was pregnant with my daughter it was lockdown but I did manage to get a wax in at 37 weeks.

When I gave birth last time, I had a full labour to 10cm, pushing, followed by an emergency c-section that went very wrong and let me tell you, I had over 30 people up the business end of things (including students) and couldn't have given a f who saw.

Personally I'm always more surprised to see a bald one.

WandaWonder · 10/12/2022 03:07

I shave my underarms, other than that no one is going anywhere near any other area unless they have medical equipment and degree

Pregnant or not

Curious, why do people not accept pregnant women? I can no longer see whats going on down there so was hoping to book one in asap and one nearer the time.

PronounsBaby · 10/12/2022 03:52

I have only got waxes when I was pregnant. I wanted to get used to strangers being 'down there' . Had crack done too...why wouldn't you be able to? Only ever been on my back...

wishuponastar1988 · 10/12/2022 04:45

Never heard of not being able to have a wax due to pregnancy. I had hollywoods throughout pregnancy - last one was at 39 weeks pregnant! When you're in Labour you don't really care any way to be honest but having mine was part of my routine so had it done just before I gave birth!

I wonder why they couldn’t do your butt? Currently 33w and have been having a Hollywood throughout my pregnancy (and before) approx every 5 weeks. She removes all hairs no problem. On all fours for butt/crack and then on my back with the back rest slightly up and legs on support cushions for the front (same as before pregnancy). She has had training in waxing those who are pregnant but I really don’t know what the difference is (I am a waxer also) other than it could be more painful as your skin is likely to be more sensitive and I guess the bump can get in the way slightly when pulling the wax off. Try find someone in your area who ‘specialises’ in pregnancy waxing.

Could possibly be due to insurance purposes but I really don’t know. I have heard of some places only wanting to wax pregnant people if they were already a waxing client before they fell pregnant. I used to be a waxer and it never occurred to me I couldn’t wax pregnant people (and it was something I’d never been told during training). It may be because your skin is likely to be more sensitive when pregnant so you wouldn’t know how it will react to waxing. I’m sure my waxer said the skin gets more sensitive the more pregnant you are so it is recommended to start waxing as early in pregnancy as possible so the skin gets more used to it. I’ve been waxed throughout my pregnancy so far every 5 weeks no problem. My waxer does ‘specialise’ in pregnancy waxing but that is just a coincidence and not the reason I go to her. I would get booked in ASAP.

How odd - everyone I know have continued getting waxed through pregnancy! You should deffo be able to find somewhere that offers it

OrcaBlondie · 10/12/2022 09:28

For anyone thinking of getting an intimate wax during pregnancy - make sure the person is qualified in intimate waxing and that they use hot wax as it is much kinder to the skin (as opposed to strip wax). If they are properly trained they would use hot wax.

@OrcaBlondie pregnant women. Not people. Only women can be pregnant.

Are you for real? Is your post relevant to the question being asked? No it’s not. Stop being so pedantic.

Thanks all, this is really useful.

I was never given a reason why they couldn't wax me and I approached three different salons and they said it very matter of factly, as if it was quite a well known thing so I just took their word for it.

I honestly don't mind aesthetically what I look like down their for the birth. Getting a Hollywood is just something I've become really used to over the last 15 years or so and I feel like I literally NEED one to feel a bit more comfy down there. Completely a personal preference.

Totally get it and agree. I start to feel uncomfortable when mine is due so I know what you mean by this! I hope you find someone soon. I don’t spose you live in Essex?

@HappyButHangry if you’re happy to go to Aldgate I have the most amazing waxer (have followed her around the City) who did me during pregnancy. Happy to share her details.
