So I had my first baby last year and was diagnosed with cholestasis at week 34 (but itching from around week 22) and then preeclampsia in week 35. Induced at week 36.

If you have cholestasis or preclampsia with a pregnancy, did you get it in subsequent pregnancies? Did you identify it earlier or later? Did it result in an induction or planned section?

I had both with my first pregnancy! Had DS three years later and had neither

Sorry didn't answer the rest of it! I was admitted to hospital in week 36 and induced week 37. On blood pressure meds for six weeks after.

Not me but friends:

One with choleostasis in birth one - had it again in second and was induced. She was much more aware of symptoms and pushed for induction

One with pre eclampsia in all 3 pregnancies. All babies delivered around 37 weeks but I don't know if that was spontaneous labour

I had cholestasis in both pregnancies.

Both times it didn't start until 37 weeks, with DS2 I didn't even have and symptoms but I was having blood tests every 2 weeks to monitor my levels, and they were absolutely fine until 37 weeks when they suddenly shot up.

DS1 they induced me a few days after I was diagnosed as I was already nearly 38w and my levels were getting dangerous. Horrible experience.

DS2 it was discovered at 37 weeks but I told them I wouldn't be induced as I hated the experience the first time. They offered me a sweep which I accepted, I had one sweet at 38w which kickstarted labour 2 days later, and had another sweep booked for 38+2 and was in the early stages of labour, but they did it anyway and DS2 was born a few hours later.

I had cholestasis with my first DC and was induced, was induced with DC2 but no pre eclampsia or cholestasis.

I had cholestasis with my first and told it was highly likely in the next one; my first was a very high risk complicated pregnancy. Second one was text book smooth and I’d go to the GP at any hint of itching but was always fine and he arrived at 39 weeks

I've had pre eclampsia with my 1st controlled with medication until naturally went into labour. Have had two pregnancys since then and have been fine. This pregnancy it's starting to creep up so keeping and extra eye on things. I'm 36 weeks now

Kentlassie · 10/12/2022 08:34

I had pre eclampsia in all three pregnancies.

I had cholestasis in pregnancy one but not two. Midwife was closely monitoring me though and I was paranoid about it!!

Billyhargrovesmullet · 10/12/2022 12:14

I had cholestasis with my 2nd and was induced at 38 weeks, also with my 3rd but they came at 36 weeks by themselves then was monitored with my 4th and had it but levels weren’t high enough to be induced.
