Heavy on going bleeding

I’m 14+1 with my first pregnancy. Since week 8 I started with some mild spotting, dark red/brown colour only visible when wiping. I was sent to the EPU and had an early scan and the baby was fine, strong heartbeat plenty movement. The scans since then have all indicated that the pregnancy is fine and the baby is healthy. The bleeding since then has gotten more frequent and I’m now on my 8th pv bleed. The blood is filling 6-8 pads a day due to the huge gush of blood that just comes out randomly. This can happen 2-3 times a day. Within seconds the blood is leaking through pads and is so heavy that it’s reaching my ankles through pads and clothing. The drs don’t seem to have any answers and say there is no treatment that can be offered to me until I’m 20+ weeks. Has anyone had anything similar and if so what treatment did you ask for?

Hi @Finpot

Sorry you're having to go through this. I had similar - started bleeding at about 6 weeks and bled on and off until almost 14 weeks, then spotted brown up til 18 weeks. I had about 8 heavy bleeds in total, big massive gushes that didn't last long but soaked through my clothes and all over the floor in seconds. I went to the EPU each time and scan confirmed baby was fine, but couldn't see a reason for the bleeds. They said there was no treatment/ nothing they could do. They never seemed particularly worried, just shrugged and said it happens to some people!!

It was only at my 20 week scan they could see a haematoma for the first time, which they said would have been the cause of the bleeds. They didn't seem to think it was anything to worry about!

Hi NewSew00, thank you for some reassurance. The drs just keep doing basic examination and saying everything looks good but no reason or diagnosis is given for the bleeds. When another bleed happens I’m going to ask if this is what the issue is and demand more monitoring

This must be scary for you.

When something similar happened to a friend of mine the bleeding did then stop. the conclusion was that she had probably been pregnant with twins and miscarried one. She went on to have a healthy baby and subsequent healthy babies.

I hope it gets sorted for you.
