Can waters stop and start?

So with my 2nd pregnancy I had actually lost my hind waters at some point but didn't know until days later at an examination. 3rd pregnancy they was broke for me.
And tonight I was on the toilet and just kept peeing.
Stood up started leaking fluid a little,
Sat down had another wee.
Brushed my teeth had another wee now sitting here with a pad on Confused.
I'm 36 weeks is this possibly my waters going or just a bloody big piss where the baby's so far head down? Had a growth scan today and she's measuring 5lb13 and her head was so far down it was difficult to get measurements of her skull.

Feel like a right numpty but other than when tneh broke them in my last labour,
I have nothing to compare it too. Can it feel like needing a wee? Would it just continue coming every time I stand?

I often found wees would stop and start when babies head was quite low, just isn't space to keep all the wee together inside😊
But with the waters I'd go by colour. Mine broke on the toilet and I didn't think the flow was anything other than normal, but when I stood up the water was pink, and a bit of pink on the tissue too. Then contractions really ramped up.

HamBone · 09/12/2022 02:33

Mine broke at home and it was a big gush of clear fluid (possibly with some pink in it, I didn’t look too closely)! Definitely not a slow leak.

As the PP said, watch the color. 🤞🤞for you, this could be it!

ClaryFairchild · 09/12/2022 02:44

Yes they can break and stop. Mine did. If that happens and you test positive for GroupB strep you need antibiotics before your child is born, or they will need to go straight into antibiotics until their test results come back. (5 days usually).

patchysmum · 09/12/2022 02:54

yes mine did I did not even know they had gone until I was in labour, I thought I was just leaking urine. I had to have an emergency C section when they realized as there is a danger of infection

Dinnerdate1 · 12/12/2022 22:12

I honestly feel they have gone. Was checked over today and they said the test is unreliable after 48 hours and it's negative. But I am still leaking and going through a maternity pad every hour or so. And I'm barely drinking so where's all the fluid come from? When I was up there earlier on the loo I had a massive gush and then could still carry on weeing Confused. When they checked me out and I coughed she could see fluid coming out but said it could of been discharge. I've had a few contractions and baby is fully engaged so dunno what to feel now! Also every time I wee there's sort of fibres in my urine Confused. Never had this before and this is baby number 4.

Mines broke like this thought I was peeing, kept having to go back to the toilet it took me ages to realise what was happening, is there a pink tinge to it? There was with mine

RandomMess · 12/12/2022 22:16

I would speak to the midwives and tell them you are concerned your waters have gone and went a while ago.

The risk is infection isn't it?

Did you pee yourself at the end of your other pregnancies? I didn't at all with any of mine?

YoBeaches · 12/12/2022 22:21

It does sound like they've gone. With mine the went but baby's position trapped the waters inside a bit so I was just leaking - but the 24 Hr rule applies to induce if baby hasn't come naturally due to infection etc.

I would deff call your midwife/maternity out of hours number. They can do a swab to confirm them make a plan with you.

Dinnerdate1 · 12/12/2022 22:23

@RandomMess No never this is new for me! And I did today and they just said well the test is negative so do some pelvic floors.
But I'm sorry how can I be midstream weeing. Have a massive gush like a pint was poured away, then finish my wee also Confused. The pads are soaked after an hour and doesn't smell like wee. It's been consistent now since Saturday

@K37529 I think earlier there was a peachy pink tone but I can't remember now. They've swabbed me and said the result was negative but I just don't see how, especially when she said she could see when I coughed some fluid coming out Confused

Please take your temperature every day, any sign of a rise, get in and see them, as it could indicate infection. My waters went a week before DS3 was born. I went in to be checked over, was effectively told I was wetting myself and sent away. By the time he was born a week later, we were both in a bit of a state. Both fine now, but I feel it could have been avoided.

RandomMess · 12/12/2022 22:29

I think you need to get assertive and say it was pink coloured and it's a constant leak and doesn't smell like wee.

I feel stressed for you Flowers

Sometimes hind waters leak and then baby plugs it but that doesn't sound like what has happened if it's still leaking now?

Similar happened to me and by the time they finally acknowledged it was my waters my DS had a raging infection. Stick to your guns and demand to be re seen if you're not happy.

NewtoHolland · 12/12/2022 22:30

I'd speak to them again ASAP and get reassessed

YoBeaches · 12/12/2022 22:30

When did they swab you? The other thing is to not assume this is one incident when it could be two. Perhaps it was wee on Saturday but now your waters have broken.

It won't harm Anyone to be checked again. If baby is in there with reduced fluids, you need a plan.

Wronglane · 12/12/2022 22:31

Yes mine broke following a wee with a big gush. Hospital tried to insist it was just a wee but it clearly wasn’t. A few hours later it started again. I wasn’t in labour

TabithaTittlemouse · 12/12/2022 22:34

Mine went like this for my first. Very young and naive me thought that I had lost control of my bladder and didn’t tell anyone for a few days.

Kamia · 12/12/2022 22:34

My waters didn't burst open either it was a slow trickle that didn't stop all the way to the hospital where I got an emergency c section-baby was distressed.

Juicylychee · 12/12/2022 22:41

Go back.

Dinnerdate1 · 12/12/2022 22:43

They swabbed me around 3pm today. I think I'm going to ring up again tomorrow because I am worried now. This cold isn't helping either when I'm in there coughing I feel like they are using the fact I'm coughing to explain away the problem like I'm constantly just peeing myself.

PinkDucks · 12/12/2022 22:43

Similar happened to me. No dramatic big gush just felt like I kept wetting myself slightly! I went to the hospital to be checked and the leaking had stopped and they told me not my waters. Came home and continued to leak fluid for the rest of the day, especially when I stood up. I checked back with the hospital that night who told me to use big maternity pads and bring them in with me and yep confirmed waters were definitely leaking! So maybe start collecting some pads for them to see, don't risk it if you're unsure as risk of infection increases. I was induced the following day and all worked out fine.

YoComoManzanas · 12/12/2022 22:44

I think your waters are breaking. This happened to me with dc1. I think it's called PPROM and there is a risk of infection.
With hindsight I've found you have to be a bit pushy (but polite) with medics. They seem to like to try and send you home if you come across in the least unsure. Do you have a birthing partner to advocate for you?
Good luck.

Dinnerdate1 · 13/12/2022 10:34

Going to ring back up. My bump has completely changed. It's more compact and neat now and the movements feel less bobby if that makes sense and more like she's touching me.
Not convinced they haven't gone.

I think turn up and say you aren't happy and something is wrong.

This is your 4th you KNOW something has change significantly.
