Hi everyone, I'm in such a dilemma.
I'm the mum of 2 kids, my son is 8 and my little girl is 5, I've just turned 40 in August and this week have found out I'm pregnant again, was an accident.
I feel all sorts of different things, but mainly shock and uncertainty as I am happy with the 2 I've got and also I feel I'm a bit old for another, and to start over again when we're all so settled... But on the other hand i'm not gutted. Has any one had a baby at 40? Had a 3rd at 40? I'm on the fence about whether to go ahead. My husband is as shocked as me but will support whatever I decide. I'm so torn!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi, it’s totally understandable what you’re saying and it’s only what you and your partner thinks that matters, everyone has different reasons and commitments. I will say 1 thing. Your never too old I had a baby at 40 another at 43 and I’ve just found out I am pregnant now at 45, good luck with whatever you decide.

I had my third child at 40. Other two were 8 and 9 when he was born. I was in a different situation as he was planned (just took a long time to come along) but I can honestly say he completed the family. He gets on very well with his older siblings and when he was a baby I had lots of time to spend with him when the others were at school so it was the fun side of a PFB in terms of baby groups and activities without the anxiety of not knowing what I was doing.

It’s a shock, but with your children being young, it sounds a lovely surprise to me, you are only 40 OP, but entirely your choice, of course. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I turned 41 in August, and had my second DD at the end of August, seven year age gap between them. At times I think I'm mad to be back in the newborn stage again, but honestly wouldn't change it at all. Congratulations and

I had a baby at 44, never regretted it. I already had a 5 year old. so a sizeable age gap, but it's been fine.

I’m 40 and I’m due in March, I feel like more patient now I’m older than I was when I was younger

I’ve just found out I’m pregnant again, turning 40 soon. Major major surprise as husband had vasectomy last sept. My heads all over the place too, I could never terminate (personal choice) but feel I am going to find it really really tough. I have the perfect 7 year old girl and 3 year old boy, we were done as far as we were concerned. Lots to consider, head a mess. I hope you got on ok! Sending love x
